southsider2k5
Anyone who thinks Ken Harrelson is the worst announcer in baseball, hasn't listen to much MLB. There are some TERRIBLE announcers out there, just as bad if not worse than Chip Carrey.
Bighurt52235
I think Hawk is great. He is funny, quick, whimsical, knows the game, and he tells it like it is. So I'm listening to a Braves game this week, and Chip's father Skip (how DOES a Skip beget a Chip?) was discussing possible NL playoff scenarios with his broadcasting partner, and Skip, the begettor of Chip, said, "I hope the Cubs get into the playoffs for Chip's sake." I can't remember what I did first, throw up or change the channel. Yeah. But before that he says, "because blood is thicker than water" and afterwards he says"because I want him to get to experience that". Sickening. :puke
Bighurt52235
The Angels announcers explained what a 6-4-3 double play was the other night and the significance of the numbers. I don't think we'll ever hear Hawk explain that. I hope we don't atleast. This was only because they got an email, from a woman, asking what that meant. I LIKE when they explain the simple stuff like that. 99% of it I already know since I've been a baseball fan for my whole life, but every now and then I learn something new. And also, as an announcer, you can't just assume that everyone listening has been a baseball lifer. Especially with the Angels, there are many new people who have just recently started following the sport, and explaining the little stuff like what a 6-4-3 is or what a sacrifice fly is makes them feel more into the game and will keep them watching. whitesox247
Bruce Jacobs is an idiot. I used to listen to him on the weekends. A cubs fan called up and ragged about how Sox fans are fairweathered while Cubs fans go to the ballpark day in and day out to support their team. Bruce actually agreed 100% and said Sox fans are idiots. What a dumbf***, I stopped listening to him from then on. The guy has a really annoying HOHOHO laugh and what is up with him always ragging on J. HOod?

whitesox247
Who's J. Hood? Score showhost, he comes on at 8 or 9 (i forgot). I used to listen to him when I was in Chicago. He's awesome.
clujer420
That would be Rex Hudler He's probably talking about Steve Physioc, Hudler's "partner" (hopefully only in the booth and nowhere else ).
greg775
I'm biased but I like Hawk. If he's a homer, what about the screamers on all the other f***ing teams? It's a prerequisite in football now to have a screamer for the hometown announcer. TOUCHDOWN!!!!!! Hawk is as smart as any man alive about the game. Sure he's a Sox homer but I swear he does criticize the Sox some. I have heard it. Why can't people accept the fact he has been critical of the Sox?? Last night he was especially critical when the Sox pitched to Raffy twice with 1st base open, and both times Raffy came through. He kept saying "I don't understand it". greg775
Great point clu. That's why I don't understand people saying he's a homer. I live in KC area and people say they can't listen to hawk cause he's such a homer. You and I know he does criticize some. Why is the perception otherwise? Because people generally only remember the "You can put it on the boooooard, yesssss"'s. People who watch Hawk on a regular basis know what he's all about, and know that he is truly one of the best sports (not just baseball) announcers in America. I'd rank him in the top 15 or so.
