Sears Tower trip

All right, so I think we are doing the extremely touristy thing and taking the kids to the Sky Deck of the Sears Tower on Monday (Yes, I still call it Sears, f*** Willis). I had no idea it was so damned expensive though, is there somewhere or way to get discounted tickets? They are $17 an adult and $11 a kid for regular price.

I did it...paid full price, and aside from getting to re-enact the scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (which makes them very mad, by the way), it's a pretty overrated experience.

I don't know of a way to get discounted tickets, though... :/

Oh, and when I did it, we showed up there having no idea what it cost...so we felt, ahh well...too late, may as well do it now...but it's pretty astounding how much they charge. If we had known it was that expensive prior to going, there is no way we would have actually done it.

I have worked within blocks of the Tower for about 14 years now, and haven't done it. The big reason we are going to do it, is because my six year old is obsessed with the building and really wants to do it.

Have they ever done a groupon?

After googling, yes they have.

Otherwise, googling Willis Tower coupons seemed promising.

That makes it worth it for you then, regardless of the price.

What's it like working downtown? Do you live out in suburbia and commute or ?

That's neat you are biting the bullet and taking the 6 year old. That's crazy it costs so much to take an elevator to the top of a building. It should be free for kids under 12; 5-10 bucks for everybody else IMO.

Most of the time working in the financial district is pretty cool. I live in Indiana and take a train in every day.

You guys have definitely walked by me and even more definitely noticed it. At the Adams St. bridge I'm the guy yelling "BOAT RIDE" really loud; orange polo.. yea.

Either way, best bet for the Skydeck is definitely show up really early or really late. We have a lot of customers come back to us (after taking the taxi) complaining about a 2-3 hour wait to get up there and looking for something else in the area.
