I always loved the Sears Tower as a building, but the truth is that the better view was on the John Hancock building. It's location in the Skyline is just better.

Yeah...but...the Sears Tower is taller.

It is also only three blocks from my work, which is pretty ideal for four and six year old legs.

So overall the trip was expensive, but worth it. We paid the extra $2.50 and ordered our tickets on-line, so instead of having the hour wait that was being stated when we got there, we were able to skip all of the ticket lines and it was only about 20-25 minutes. The views were incredible. There was some haze, so it wasn't the full 50 miles possible, probably more like 25 to 30, but amazing none the less. The ledge was definitely a cool experience. The experience was very cool, but for the cost, I don't think we will do it again anytime soon.

On my way to Union Station last night I was walking over the Adams street bridge as a tour boat was going by. I heard the tour guide say something like "and if you look up, you'll see the tallest building in North America, the Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower." I small part of me died when I heard that.

The restaurant is in the Hancock. The Sears Tower does have the highest bathrooms relative to street level in the Western Hemisphere though. Thanks, wikipedia!

One thing I did learn, the building across the street, with the round top, is the worlds tallest unnamed building. 311 South Wacker.
