Feeky Magee
f***ing A. Never mind why was he brought out for the 8th, why was he kept out after 2 walks?
kwolf68
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) Brutal, some more bad managing. Forget the fact this stinky pitcher didn't get it done? At some point the players have to make plays...Septimo didn't...he should be out of the majors. Edited July 17, 2012 by kwolf68
Caesar
What is Ventura doing? This is f***ing crazy. That has to be the worst managers decision I have ever seen.

daa84
if no Thornton, why not Santiago there? I just don't really get it. Maybe robin doesn't like the screwball vs lefties?

Baron
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) Ventura has alot to learn This is his first year. Give the man a break. Chicago White Sox
I like Septimo and was cool with bringing him out to start the 8th, but my god you don't let him face a third batter after two straight walks. It's one thing to show confidence in your players and quite another to knowingly let him fail.
GoodAsGould
He left a guy who is our lefty specialist in against 3 lefties and everyone is screaming bloody murder lol.... the fault isn't on Robin it's on Septimo who needs to be demoted.

RockRaines
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) He's been unbelievably awful the last handful of games. How so? OUr last manager loses that series at KC for sure. The ump closing his strike zone didnt help there but I'm sure there is a reason he trotted out septimo instead of someone else. Seems like frustration at the scoreboard makes alot of opinions sway towards the overreaction zone.

Paint it Black
The book on Septimo as he had a tough time throwing strikes at times. Why he is being used in high leverage situations is beyond me at this point.
fathom
Septimo and his awful control is a terrible match-up against the patient Red Sox hitters. This reminded me of Marte against the Red Sox in Game 3 of the ALDS.
Baron
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) Again, is Thornton hurt? If not, it's ridiculous he wasn't used this inning. Thats great but he is the only reliable guy we have left(not counting Addison). Not much to work with. Pretty upset the bullpen has gotten to this point. They are playing with fire. mgaughan09
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) Ventura has alot to learn Yep, hes shown to be pretty stubborn about sticking with his guys. Which isn't really a bad thing but when your guy is a rookie who's walked two in a row facing A-Gon and Thornton still available...
mmmmmbeeer
We know Santiago sucks from the left side. Septimo we don't know about. Thornton has looked good lately. You have 3 lefties coming up in a 1-1 game...game 1 of a 4 game set. With such a lefty dominant lineup, you're going to need more than Thornton from the left side this week. I think this was Robin throwing Septimo in the fire and seeing how it goes. It went bad. He literally has a bullpen of rookies and one vet. There are going to be times where we have to rely on a rookie to get the job done....Septimo didn't.
