This is his first year. Give the man a break. Its not like the bullpen has a bunch of AAA players in it or anything.

So Matt Thornton wasn't a viable option. In a 1-1 game you start either your left handed experienced relief guy, or a guy who might have a hard time hitting a brick wall with his fastball. Its not rocket science with this one. We have a rested bullpen.

How so? OUr last manager loses that series at KC for sure. The ump closing his strike zone didnt help there but I'm sure there is a reason he trotted out septimo instead of someone else. Seems like frustration at the scoreboard makes alot of opinions sway towards the overreaction zone.

Terrible use of Axelrod in last game before the ASB, using the much slower Hudson to pr instead of Danks/Escobar, and the absolutely terrible decision of leaving Peavy in way too long on Saturday.

Just what was Ventura saving Thornton for? The bottom of the order with all righties?

Well, perhaps Robin thought (stupid I know) that Septimo could actually get his chit together and we may need Matt for later. I am sorry, but at some point the player has to be called out on things.

I have no real issue with this other than the fact I don't want to see Septimo again in a White Sox uniform. Now that Robin knows this guy sucks, don't ever use him in a close game again.

Maybe the 9th if it was tied. Who knows, if he brought him out and he got hit around you would be all over that decision too.

He left a guy who is our lefty specialist in against 3 lefties and everyone is screaming bloody murder lol.... the fault isn't on Robin it's on Septimo who needs to be demoted.

Lol...he needs to be demoted? Overreact much? Also, Robin is the one to blame. Septimo told the world he didn't have it this inning by walking the first two batters. Robin should have listened and taken him out.

So you're saving Thornton for a 9th inning with all righties up? If the Red Sox had a lineup full of lefties, then I understand you saving him. However, the 8th inning was clearly the trouble inning, and you hate losing without your best option on the mound.

LOL, I have no issue with any of those and I thought he managed us probably the other two wins in that series. Funny how that works.

Rock, its the 8th inning in a tie game with Ortiz in the middle of it. Its not a reach that Matt should of started that inning over a rookie who has a hard time throwing strikes.

Who knows, his f***ing forearm could be tight. Hindsight is awesome and all but Septimo got squeezed and gave up a bomb to one of the best hitters in the game. It happens.

One thing we can all agree on is that KW needs to act now about the bullpen, as he can't sit around until the deadline and hope the inexperienced bullpen survive during a very tough stretch of games. Especially given the starting pitching injuries, the bullpen is going to be used a lot.

Hey I agree we should win every single game. I bet he looks back on it and thinks that same thing. We dont even know if he was available at that moment.

We all said this is assuming Thornton is healthy

Agreed. For all we know they are trying to decide about dealing Thornton (Yankees rumor.)

Everyone is smart after the fact, hey?

Bottom line is Septimo needs to go back to the farm.

The bashing of the manager is just ridiculous. Lets get Ozzie back...

Everyone is so phucking smart.

If Septimo actually...pitches like he belongs in the majors and got through that inning wonder if people would be going, "Robin sucks...we're lucky we got them out because Septimo was wild and I can't believe he didn't give up a 3 run homer to Adrian Gonzalez."

BTW---we have ONE RUN tonight...that's not gonna win you many baseball games no matter how well you pitch and even Whitey Herzog couldn't do much with that.
