KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 18, 2012) - The Kannapolis Intimidators and Chicago White Sox have announced that outfielder Keenyn Walker has been promoted from Class A Kannapolis to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem today. The White Sox top draft pick from 2011 hit .282 with a home run, 39 RBI and ranked second in the South Atlantic League with 39 stolen bases in 74 games as the Intimidators center fielder. He hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games with Kannapolis and was batting .343 (24-70) in 17 games since the All-Star Break.

Walker, a switch-hitter who turns 22 in August, ranks eighth in the SAL with 50 walks and is 16th in on-base percentage (.395) this season. He split last season between Great Falls and Kannapolis after the White Sox selected him in the supplemental first round (47th overall) out of Central Arizona College where he was named NJCAA I First Team All-American, the NJCAA I Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner and received the 2011 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Year Award.

Walker stole 70 bases in 73 tries to lead all National JuCo players while batting .412 with six home runs and 59 RBI in 70 games in 2011. Baseball America rated him as the No. 6 Prospect and Fastest Baserunner in the White Sox organization entering this season.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox promoted outfielder Adam Heisler from Advanced Rookie Great Falls. Heisler is batting .258 (24-93) with 11 RBI in 22 games with the Voyagers. The Intimidators return to CMC-NorthEast Stadium for a four-game series against Charleston on Thursday, July 19. The team will shoot off post-game fireworks on Saturday, July 21. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.

What happens to Thompson? Moves to a corner spot? Maybe their doing this in preparation for Mitchell being shipped out and Trayce gets promoted? although one could argue he hardly deserves it with his 234 average.

Congratulations to Keenyn, here's to hoping he can continue to produce for the Dash.

Mitchell's value has fallen far enough in the last 6 weeks he can no longer be considered a centerpiece of a deal...unless it's for a Millwood type.

They're better off holding onto him going into 2013, unless you absolutely have to include him to get someone like Garza, Dempster, Greinke, etc.
