What the f*** ever dude. This statement is just as bigoted as anything else that's been said. Check your stereotypes in the mirror.

This is truth.

I'm not terribly fond of the Southern US, but there are many more quality individuals there than anything else.

And there is definitely a divine touch to Chick Fil A chicken. If you didn't think you liked it, it's because it tastes so different than any other chicken ever that it shocked your taste buds. It's okay, it happened to me at first too. Put down the KFC bro.

I think he went a bit far, just saying it as a bigoted opinion would have sufficed. That being said, if Duke is from the South, it reinforced a stereotype, which is unfortunate.

...that's the argument people use though.

That being said, Duke's post was terrible, terrible view on the world.

I live in Memphis and I support gay marriage and much of the town does as well. I'm sure many don't, too. The country is split about 50-50, after all. It's like saying a place that votes Republican has no Democrats.

it's 50-50 with a majority of the FOR being in the northern states, while a majority of the AGAINST being in the southern states. That's not really debatable...

That makes you just as bad as the CEO of ChickFilA.

Being intolerant of gay-haters, i.e., bigots, is the same? False equivalency.

Random guy #1: "I love child pornography."

Random guy #2: "I'm intolerant of child pornographers!"

SSK25: "These two people are the essentially the same."

What I don't like are people that don't accept others for things they can't change, such as skin, sexual orientation and gender. As for me and my "hypocrisy", I don't accept people who CHOOSE to be bigoted. There's a big difference.

Uh, I'm pretty sure he was referring to your blanket statement about all southerners being bigoted.

That wasn't at all what was said. It was a slur of southerns as intolerant. There is a big difference. Painting a whole group with a broad brush if the very definition of stereotyping. Assigning those stereotypes to a broad group of people and treating them as a lesser people for it is racism. Sound familiar?

Not that Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras were that great, but that would have been pretty s*** for the slaves.

Fine, let's take a poll, and see if I'm off base:

All southerners posting in this thread, do you support gay marriage?

Dude...its not just the south. The majority of this country still doesn't support gay-marriage. It was recently voted on in a very liberal state (the one I live in) and it didn't pass. I think its a shame but to say the south should be succeeded. Give me a break man. You are being just as bigoted and stereotypical yourself.

I don't believe that at all. What happened in California then (is California a hillbilly state)? Our politics are f***ed up but we are one of the most liberal states there is. And don't get started with the political mistakes that they made with the proposition. Marketing or not, confident or not, the proposition didn't pass a few years ago.

I hope it will one day but I'm not going to pretend that my view (I fully support it) is in the majority.

dude read the rest of the thread before you post.

it's bigoted to hate someone for something they can't control. it's a whole 'nother animal to hate someone for an attitude they hold, that they have every ability to change when it's been proven time and time again (blacks/women) to be the immoral and ignorant position.

I have read the thread. You aren't Duke but your posts aren't much different. You threw the entire south under the bus for no good reason (just assuming they all are hateful and spiteful people and that is pathetic).
