flavum
The way the Angels are playing now, I think the A's are about to finally hit the wall. 4 game series starts Monday at Anaheim. Then the A's come home for 3 against Baltimore, then hit the road: 3 at Tigers, 3 at Yankees, 4 at Rangers. Now, with the new format, would the Rangers dump games on purpose to the A's trying their hardest to keep the Angels out of October? Strategically, why wouldn't they? This is a potential issue for MLB.

caulfield12
http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings Stumbling/bumbling White Sox at 70.9%, more hapless Tigers at only 31.3%, but a lot will change this week, one way or the other. Or not. A's did pass the Sox and are getting closer to being a sure thing, but with Balt, TB and the Angels all playing well, lots of excitement in the final weeks of the season. This will be the second time in the past couple weeks that the Tigers enter a series with the White Sox coming off a 3-game sweep; they also were swept by the Royals Aug. 28-30 before sweeping the White Sox at Comerica Park. Balta1701
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:49 AM) yes. but you are also correct Depends a ton on the health of ARod and Tex. When 2-3 of the starting pitchers we're relying on are lefties, if those guys aren't 100%, their lineup loses a lot of its punch against lefties. caulfield12
That would be nice Hibbard. We have to get over the Royals curse....and then survive the series out in LA, only lose 2/3 at worst, not getting swept.
