flavum
Yankees have a one game lead on the Orioles. Orioles magic number over the Angels is 3 to clinch a Wild card berth. WC2-- Oak - LAA 2 TB 3 The Rays have to win 5 in a row, including sweeping the Orioles, and hope the Orioles lose one against Boston. flavum
Orioles put up 3 on Zach Stewart in the first inning. How is that guy in the big leagues? Yankees down 2-1, 3rd. Orioles and Yankees are tied, btw. Edited September 30, 2012 by flavum
Cerbaho-WG
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) Orioles put up 3 on Zach Stewart in the first inning. How is that guy in the big leagues? He just needs more time in the minors. ERA on the season now at 8.47. 13 HR in 34 IP.
flavum
It would suck if the A's get to host the Yankees in the Wild Card Game, and lose.

zenryan
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) The Rays are hot but it's too late. I thought at the beginning of the week the Rays needed to go 7-2 (2-0 vs Bos,3-1 vs CHW, 2-1 vs Balt) to have any shot at the A's. After going 5-1 so far, not only couldnt they gain ground on Oakland, they couldnt even pass up the Angels. Pretty amazing how well just about every team has played the final week of this playoff push.

greg775
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 07:25 AM) we should be use to that by now. It's going to take me a long time to get over this collapse/choke. I can't imagine how worried Sox officials are that the loyal season ticket holders would probably rather throw money down the toilet than re-up their season tickets after this disastrous finish. The Sox showed no fight, no nothing. It was just horrific baseball day after day.
cabiness42
It's going to take me a long time to get over this collapse/choke. I can't imagine how worried Sox officials are that the loyal season ticket holders would probably rather throw money down the toilet than re-up their season tickets after this disastrous finish. The Sox showed no fight, no nothing. It was just horrific baseball day after day. It's been tough to swallow, but I don't see it as a true choke. It's the offense, especially the 5-9 hitters, reverting to their true selves at the most inopportune time. A lineup with Rios, AJ, Viciedo, Ramirez, and Beckham in the 5-9 slots and it took some very good fortune by the Sox and some very bad play by Detroit to even make it possible. I see this season as providing Sox management some extra incentive to put it all together for 2013 instead of just waiting for the young guys to develop.
