fathom
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) There's no way Crain can be worse than Jones and Thornton have been recently. Yes he can be.
BFirebird
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) PK made an extremely tough play look easy there. Hamilton hits grounders with a ton of back spin. This. Only reason we still lead. Not every 1B makes that play.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Jesus Christ. This is where the argument is that it WORKED, but it wasn't the right move and we got lucky as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take a pill. First you say Beltre is going to kill Thornton, then he walks and you deem that as another reason Thornton has to go. He let one run score when he came in with the bases loaded and one out against the heart of the Texas Rangers line up.
caulfield12
Lost in all that was the fact that Viciedo made the play of the game to get the force at 2nd or that inning is a complete debacle.

mgaughan09
That ball looked like a bases clearing double right off the bat, for sure. Phew.
caulfield12
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Take a pill. He let one run score when he came in with the bases loaded and one out against the heart of the Texas Rangers line up. Did you see how hard he hit that ball? By all means, go ahead and make Matt Thornton the closer, if it makes you happy. You are probably the only White Sox fan in the entire country who felt comfortable in that situation with Thornton there. But go ahead and ignore everyone else's comments, lol. ChiliIrishHammock24
LOL at people saying "Great job Matt!!". You MUST only be watching on Gameday. Paulie made a very nice play on Hamilton to get 1 out, he walks Beltre, and then Michael Young hits an absolutely rocket to RF, right at Rios. Could not have been a luckier appearance, there was nothing even close to "great" about it.
Marty34
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) There's no way Crain can be worse than Jones and Thornton have been recently. Crain is good for 2 innings or about 35 pitches a week, he has to be used very sparingly. Win this game without using him and he's available for tomorrow or Sunday. His last outing he went 2/3 of an inning and walked 3. The outing before he went 2/3 of an inning and gave up a homer, but don't let facts get in your way. Capn12
No bunt? Not like I think Flowers can actually get a hit. And the K...he could really challenge Dunn for the K title if he played 160 games.

The outing before he went 2/3 of an inning and gave up a homer, but don't let facts get in your way. It's still NOT worse than Thornton and Jones. Jones has put on over 30 baserunners in his last 10 innings. Crain was pitching in garbage situations, just trying to get back to his comfort level. Keep in mind, he rushed to get back onto the roster instead of taking the customary minor league rehab assignment like he should have. Maybe something to do with us being woefully understaffed and inexperienced in the pen now. Edited July 28, 2012 by caulfield12

Majority of 1b make that play, maybe someone like prince fielder would have botched it and young hit the ball well but really if you consider that a rocket what do you label an actual hard hit line drive.
