Was it a routine double play ball that he threw away?

He had a chance at 2 outs before that, but the ball he threw away, wasn't routine, but was clearly concerned about being taken out and botched the throw. He's made plays like that before with no issues.

And what happened on that? Sorry, I missed the first inning.

Viciedo was playing shallow which he probably should do against Revere. But he didn't take a good route to try to catch the ball so it went over his head.

Doumit was going to be safe regardless. So the error didn't matter.

The runner (Doumit) wouldn't have been at 2B, though, for Valencia. So the 4th and tying run would have been stranded.

If he didn't hesitate a bit and do the 360 spin, he has him...75% chance, at least.

It mattered he got 2nd base on the error and scored on a single.

So you have the botched ball (not an error, but he regularly makes it) against Span, the ball thrown away (could have been an out and only 4-2), then Doumit advancing to 2nd and scoring on the Valencia hit.

So three "deleterious" plays in the last game plus that he normally makes.

Maybe Santiago shoud have stayed with tghe club and Quinatana go down? What has he done for us lately - like today?

Have the 2nd lowest ERA on the staff post All-star break.

Scherzer just threw 98 MPH on pitch 92.

Pretty amazing to have two guys like that on one team.

Unfortunately for Max Patkin, Jr., he's down 4-2.

HE's already thrown 92 pitches? What inning?
