Who does Kenny pull off the waiver wire?

There is certainly a UT type out there, probably a reliever too.Any expensive closers worth taking a shot on?

I agree with this, but who. The only infielder who comes to mind would be Visquel.

Reliever....would the Cubs waive Marmol and could Cooper fix him?

No doubt he'll be scouring the waiver wire with the needs of the team right now on the bench and in the pen. Those type of smaller guys will be more available than huge impact guys.

It will be interesting to see where the club is in a month and who will be available.

If not for the Danks contract, we could reclaim Mark Buehrle.

That would have been something...feel sorry he's stuck with a rebuilding team down there in South Florida, but he did it to himself, partially.

Not that he had the option to return unless he gave a HUGE hometown discount. But you know JR's kicking himself quite a bit now for keeping Danks over Mark.

Well that and the common sense that his is a horrible contract after this year.

Yea it is pretty bad. Hopefully Danks can come back strong next year. There are a lot of quality starters heading into free agency this year- so KW will have his options.

I created another thread starting the topic already but what is everyone's opinion of Mike Fontenot. He was DFA'd by Philadelphia today. While he is not great, he has played SS in the past and is better than Olmedo.

Yes if there are no other options.

The Red Sox placed Nick Punto on waivers today. He would be a better option than Hudson at this point...

I was looking at it defensively, Punto can play shortstop and 3b better than Hudson can. Then replace Olmedo with Fontenot and the bench is better.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal

#Phillies' Cliff Lee indeed on waivers, as reported by @JeffPassan. Also currently on: #Marlins' Carlos Lee, #RedSox's Carl Crawford. MORE

Carlos won't make it through, so he might be moving pretty quick. Would the Marlins let him walk if someone claimed him to block the Dodgers?

His contract ends this year and his OPS is 105 points better than James Loney, for a single example. Same reason the Marlins traded for him in the first place.

One big difference, the Astros are paying the Marlins. If you claim Lee, you have to pay him his entire contract. The Marlins were trying to trade him and wanted teams to eat $2.5 million even though they essentially are paying him the minimum.

With Houston paying all of his contract. Does that money go with, or does Florida keep it?
