winninguglyin83
Eric Grabe, second baseman, was the only White Sox player named to the Appalachian League all-star team. Doesn't say it team was picked by managers, players or media. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...;vkey=news_milb Grabe is old for short-season rookie ball -- 23. Hitting .357 with 17 extra base hits in 140 at bats. Second in BA and on-base percentage. No speed. Looks like marginal prospect. But he's an all-star. scenario
Should note that he just turned 23 this month. And there are 5 other 22 year olds on the all star team. Edited August 24, 2012 by scenario
QuickJones81
This is only his first season in pro ball as well, as we was drafted in the 24th round of this years draft. He's on my list of pet prospects whom I like, but most people don't.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 07:46 AM) This is only his first season in pro ball as well, as we was drafted in the 24th round of this years draft. He's on my list of pet prospects whom I like, but most people don't. No one has said they dislike him - hard to not be happy with his performance. It is just that no one else is ready to consider him in the top 20 names in the system... yet. If he is putting up big numbers like this in A ball next year, and as he progresses up the chain, it starts to mean more. That doesn't mean he can't make it or that he isn't good - it just means he has an uphill battle at this point.

Being a 23 year old at the lowest level of the minors, and a 24th round pick means he has more to prove. Right or wrong, that is how it works.
