Kyyle23
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) How did they score the last play? Single by PK? Wise scores on pure awesome
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Give credit to the Sox hitters though, as the Mariners closer has great stuff and they were all over him tonight. Yep, normally you expect Gordon Beckham to get wiped out and then you're just left counting outs left. He's really responded again the last week or so. And then the walk to Wise, you feel the game's over for the Sox, just surprised it didn't happen on the Dunn swing to the wall.
fathom
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 03:41 AM) Wise scores on pure awesome Funny that he went against conventional baseball teachings by not tagging up with no outs but then he was tagging when there was one out. greg775
Sox win! Sox win! Thank goodness I left mlb.com figuring we had the game won at 7-2 as I had to field a long phone call. I come back from the call and all I see is that we won. Saved me the angst. I didn't have to watch the implosion in the 9th. I probably would have freaked out watching that crap. But as I said ... Sox win!!
Cali
I don't know if I'm more upset or happy. Cause 6 runs in the ninth is kinda unacceptable
max power
A win is a win. I thought they might come back just before the bottom of the 9th started. Usually I would lose hope and shut off my radio. Maybe have a little tantrum. Glad it worked out.

Cause 6 runs in the ninth is kinda unacceptable s*** happens, it's baseball, every bullpen will have a freak outing like this. Good teams find ways to win, and they did that tonight. I'm really looking forward to the near future of this team.
fathom
I read elsewhere that Reed didn't start warming up until Veal was brought into the game. If that's the case, then Ventura/Cooper should have stalled a bit before bringing in Reed.

Reed faced all lefties it seemed like and he did not warm until Veal came in. Both Dunn and Konerko's balls looked like they were gone. Pulled a rabbit out of our ass tonight but it is All Good. Noonskadoodle
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 12:52 AM) Did many fans leave in the top of the ninth or is that a Kansas City thing and a Dodgers thing? Speaking of the Dodgers, if they get Gonzo, Crawford & Beckett they become the real deal. Victorino Ethier Kemp Adrian Gonzalez Hanley Carl Crawford Is one hell of a 1-6 lineup With Kershaw Billingsley Beckett & your top 3 pitchers. NL better watch out. The Ginger Kid
That was an epic collapse. And a gutsy win. It was almost like they weren't going to allow themselves to suffer the pain of a loss like that. Damnthis team is fun to watch this season! Swingandalongonetoleft
That 9th inning (both halves) was about par for course on a day that the Dodgers are in talks with the Red Sox to absorb their entire franchise- save for Fenway Park and Bobby Valentine, with the additional caveat of... It's likely the Dodgers would absorb most, though not all, of the $261 million that Gonzalez, Beckett and Crawford are owed after this season. just a little over a year after they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. RZZZA
Is Addison Reed really a closer? I don't know if his stuff is deceptive enough to make people swing and miss. Am I crazy or does he just throw it hard down the middle usually? He looks very hittable to me.
YASNY
Wedge came out and got with the umps ... he wasn't questioning whether or not the ball was caught, he was saying that Paulie passed Youk on the basepaths. Paulie couldn't have caught and passed Youk if Youk was in a wheelchair.

Bringing in a guy cold with 2 men know base is a recipe for disaster. They should have let Humber go at least one more batter. Bringing Veal in still makes no sense to me.
