Swingandalongonetoleft
QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) Gotta love the tigers going 5-1 this week, and losing ground vs us. What a familiar feeling.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) One of those two games was 3 outs from being a blowout True, but that 9th inning on Friday did happen
greg775
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 01:38 AM) Team of destiny. It doesn't have that feel yet. We can't get swept by Detroit again. I guess at this point I'd take 1-2 in that series and only lose a game to them.
caulfield12
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) Feels very 2005ish. Minus the lockdown bullpens of 2005 and first half 2008 when you just expected every single one run lead or tie game to end up in the Sox victory column if you got to the 7th or beyond... GoodAsGould
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) Feels very 2005ish. 2005 it felt like every single game we were ahead and hardly ever had to worry about coming from behind.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) Minus the lockdown bullpens of 2005 and first half 2008 when you just expected every single one run lead or tie game to end up in the Sox victory column if you got to the 7th or beyond... We as Sox fans often forget comebacks are part of being a winning team . A winner always has its share of comebacks and exciting victories. We're too used to being a .500 or worse team . That's changed some under KW's reign but still is not an easy task to have good teams year after year unless you have a big budget or get incredibly lucky year after year in the draft. caulfield12
Yeah, look at the Angels. They hit it huge with both Trout and Trumbo in two consecutive years, they have Pujols, Kendrys Morales finally back, Kendrick, Hunter, on paper, they should have a great rotation or at least one of the better ones (Weaver, Haren, Greinke, Santana, etc.)...and they're STILL probably going to miss the playoffs with that payroll. Just goes to show the importance of a bullpen as well (see Marlins, Miami for example #2)...and how Mike Napoli emerging and becoming a force with the Rangers really changed the balance of division offensive power temporarily. I forgot to add in the injury factor also. For a team to win it all every phase of a team game has to contribute Offense defense start and relieve pitching . One key phase not holding up their end can lead to disaster.
