Fun Facts:

In 2002:

George W. Bush was president.

The White Sox finished 81-81

The highest paid player on the roster was Frank Thomas ($9,927,000).

Mark L Johnson was the White Sox starting Catcher.

Todd Ritchie lost 15 games (acquired in the offseason for Sean Lowe, Josh Fogg, and Kip Wells).

Danny Wright and John Garland were the future of the rotation.

Rolls Royce Clayton posted a sterling .661 OPS.

The Ray Durham era ended, and he was traded to Oakland for . . . Jon Adkins.

Kenny Lofton was our opening day CF, until he was traded to SF for Ryan Meaux and Felix Diaz to make way for the Grindy One.

JOOOOE CREEEDE took over 3B down the stretch.

Joe Borchard(Hah!) made his first appearance on the big club.

Jason Gage (finally) lost his virginity.

SS2K5 surpassed the 50,000 post mark by labor day.

So Soxtalk was launched on a day when the Sox were 7 games under .500 and 16 games out of 1st?

That explains a lot.

And the mandatory pessimism in game threads was born.

Congrats to Soxtalk & thanks to the mods/admins for all the work they do to keep it running! :cheers

I was embarrassingly even younger than that. And reading even younger than that, then my PARENTS finally let me sign up :lolhitting

I discovered this page dying for an outlet to gush about the White Sox in the late Spring of 2005. I was in DeKalb, at college, and discovered Soxtalk. I started posting, and quickly became addicted. I also fell in love, at that time, with Photoshop because I wanted to make some truly ugly sigs. I was a complete rookie with the software, but I had to represent!

The passion started there wound up helping me find a job post-college and now I use the software everyday for fun and for my profession.

Anyway, I've made an ass of myself here almost as much as I have in my real life, but this site is the s*** and I'm glad I found it. Thanks to Jason and all the mods who work to make it more difficult everyday to rip on someone for disagreeing with me.

:cheers
