kitekrazy
Hats off to those Sox fans who follow what going on in the minors. To me that's a fan who is "all in". How do you get your knowledge of what's going on? Do you listen to games? Only look at the box scores? Do any of you live where they play? Only if they had an idiot's guide to following your team's farm system.

I work in baseball too, so it's easy to hear stuff from guys in various leagues.
JPN366
I use to have season tickets to the Birmingham Barons. But having a kid took priority over going to the games and now the team is moving 15 miles north of where they are now and back into one of the most dangerous cities in America. Plus, I check out milb.com, check the team rosters and transactions constantly, follow all of the relevant Twitter feeds and so on. Baseball America minor league transactions is also useful. Following player Twitter feeds has also become handy.

I've been a fan since I was younger and following games just before college (got a signed Jeremy Reed baseball when I was younger). I personally know a few guys who are in other affiliates playing and one currently in our system.. well.. acquaintance (Dan Black) and others I've watch on TV. It hasn't been the same for me in the prospect discussing world for quite some time since I have more of a life now () but every now and then, I'll check out an up and comming prospect before the draft and still regularly follow our affiliate. Guys like Ozzie Ball, scenario, danman, Rex Hudler (when he was around), Cerb, Jason, dasox, daa84, palehosefan etc. are some of the guys I've (or seen here with others) discussed prospects with over the years. Guys like fathom, JPN, DBAH0 and Heads are great too. (though DBAH0 hasn't been the same since his boy Micah Schnurstein sucked and Heads with his Jack Egbert love affair. )
Balta1701
I live 20 minutes from the Cubs' Southern League affiliate.
NorthSideSox72
I check the boxes most days (usually from here, and if it isn't here yet, I start the thread - flavum usually does it though), catch up others. Read the transactions. I'll watch video and read scouting reports on guys worth noting, especially when it comes time to write the ranking and performance articles on futuresox.com. I've occasionally listened to games on the radio from various affiliates, and I've been to some minor league games here and there. Also good to have connections with people in the organization or in the media to get more info. And, in some cases, I've actually connected with players directly, via Facebook or email. cabiness42
I live 8 miles from an International League stadium, but it seems like I'm always busy with other stuff when the Knights are in town.

He gave me one of his fielding gloves after a game. Not a cheap one either, it is an Akadema infielder's glove. So my man crush probably far outweighs DBAH0's. Palehosefan
I used to listen to games, read all the scouting reports, research all the draft picks etc. I spent many years from whitesox.com, to FanHome.com, then Scout.com, and Soxtalk.com talking prospects with you guys. From Whitesox.com, I got to know Sean Lowes sister really well. It was crazy times. I remember when this site almost merged with Scout.com, but they wanted to force Jason to offer pay-for-access information as well and he wouldn't do it. Now I'm relegated to reading the box scores, and seeing what you guys think.
BigEdWalsh
I live in Orem, Utah just minutes from Utah Valley U. where the Orem Owlz (Angels affiliate) of the Pioneer League play. I really look forward to the Voyagers playing here every summer. Also, I'm not too far from Salt Lake where I can see Pacific Coast League games. This spring I saw Mike Trout play just before he got called up. Holy crap he was impressive!

fathom
I love the daily box scores on here (huge thanks to flavum and others). Also, I like to read the free Baseball America chat recaps that take place every Wednesday and Friday (along with the Hot Sheet).
kitekrazy
Hopefully I can watch an AFL game or two. I wish they had more 6:35 pm games. I'll have to check out the Rafters in Peoria or Surprise.
winninguglyin83
1. here. 2. MILB 3. Baseball America 4. live in an International League city. researching the minor league guys makes the winter go by quicker. As long as you forget the countless hours you were certain Joe Borchard, Jeremy Reed, Jason Dellaero, Scott Ruffcorn and Kevin Bell (among others) were the Next Great Things. The 3% that doesn't is the baseball games, all the blonde women and the mountains.

The 3% that doesn't is the baseball games, all the blonde women and the mountains. That's about it and ohhhh those blond women. The good thing that helps me maintain what's left of my sanity is knowing that I'm only here for hopefully 2 years at the max then it's back to Washington and much more normal life. At least here too, it's a quicker trip down to spring training.
