Chisoxfn
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) Hudson's not running into something to tie the game there, which is what you need, as you're probably not getting 3 consecutive hits. Those other 3 have a chance. You don't let another AAA player make your last out. I have more problem with tonight, where we ran out two AAA relievers in big games (Septimo and Omogrosso), then the use of Liriano the day before. Neither of Septimo/Omogrosso have shown me much anything. On the flip side, Liriano is a proven starter with good stuff and past success. Albeit, he's clearly in a funk right now and has lost a lot of money over these past couple of weeks.
MexSoxFan#1
The way I see it, if the Sox can't even get a split at home vs the other team fighting for the division crown, then they don't deserve to win the division. come on, gaddammit!!! fathom
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Lefties are 4/26 against Leyson Septimo after last night Yep, he's great against them in low pressure situations. As I mentioned earlier, hitters are now 3-6 with 2 homers and 5 walks against him in high leverage situations.
Jake
Real question -- why did Detroit use Benoit last night?
fathom
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1331870.story So he wanted to give Prince a different look than Veal? How does that explain letting Cabrera pick up his 3rd hit in as many ABs against Omogrosso? Omogrosso got away with probably 10 hangers in his outing on Sunday, and now it seems he's been promoted to "reliable reliever".

Either you have a plan or you don't. I am starting to think they are making things up as they go along. This goes for the line-up, pinch hitting and the bullpen usage. Using the AAA pitchers to then go to the veterans is asinine.

Of course they are making things up as they go along...and that does happen in big series or big games...I don't have a problem with it....but what they don't appear to have is any appreciation for data or any appreciation for when the game is on the line and when it is not. Why use Santiago on short rest over Liriano last night. That is my point.

I wonder if that's the most pitches anyone has thrown on short rest this year? 90+ pitches on a Sunday, 50+ pitches on Wednesday.
