I get the updates on the instructionals from my son! He hit a double and lined out to deep RF. And he is on his way anyway, lol!

Thank you for the AFL link though, I am following it now!

Any chance you could get a hold of a roster from down there?

Maybe we should have daily threads for the AFL games, like we do the minor league games. Anyway...

Salt River 6, Mesa 5

Sanchez: 1-3, R, BB, K

Thompson: 1-2, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB, CS(PO)

Wilkins: 1-4, HR, K

S Rodriguez: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

Pretty good opener for Sox hitters... not so much for their pitcher.

Salt River 11, Mesa 3

Tr Thompson: 0-3, 2 BB, K, CS

Sal Sanchez: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K

Ta Thompson: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K

Only 365 people watched the game. Kind of surprised they don't get more people than that.

I think that leaves just Rienzo in terms of Sox players not yet played.

Salt River 6, Scottsdale 5

C Sanchez: 3-4, RBI, R, BB, K, 2 SB

Wilkins: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R, K

White Sox hitters in Arizona apparently came to play. The three of them, despite playing only 2 games each, have knocked in 6 of the team's 22 runs, and have 9 of their 32 hits, helping Salt River stay undefeated so far. Sanchez has been playing 2B so far, for what its worth. And Trayce Thompson has 4 walks in 2 games, against just 1 K (9 PA).

The hitters usually thrive, and the pitchers suffer in the AFL.

Rienzo starting tonight. Keith Law tweeting he's at 93-95, with a sharp cutter.

Rienzo: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K

S Rodriguez: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K (UER was on his own error)

C Sanchez: 0-4, K

Nice start by Rienzo.

Wasn't he typically a 91-93 type guy during the season? Like Johnny Danks type velo?

The difference there isn't all that big, but his fastball is more or less why he's a prospect. He's got good velocity.

Game from the 13th...

Surprise 10, Salt River 2

Wilkins: 2-4, 2B, R, K, SB

Tr Thompson: 0-3, 2 K

S Sanchez: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Ta Thompson: 1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Among those who have played 3 games or more for Salt River, Andy Wilkins is leading the team in AVG (.462), SLG (.846) and OPS (1.308). 3 games is a very small sample of course, but, nice to see him starting off well.

Salt River plays today (Monday) at 1:35pm Central time. Should see Sanchez in the lineup, possibly see Santos Rodriguez pitching.

Hmmmm, Thompson batter last. Hope that is not an indication of what the mgr thinks about his bat.

Salt River 4, Phoenix 2 (in 10)

C Sanchez: 1-4, 2 K, SAC, SB

Wilkins: 0-2, 2 BB, RBI(SF), R, SB

In the 10th, Sanchez bunted the lead runner over from second to third, Wilkins was intentionally walked and then stole second, and the lead runner and Wilkins went on to score the 2 runs for that inning to win the game.

DAN HAYES

Several White Sox farmhands are off to strong starts in Arizona Fall League play, including top organizational prospects Carlos Sanchez and Andre Rienzo.

Sanchez, an infielder who advanced to Triple-A Charlotte this season after starting at Single-A Winston-Salem, is 4-for-11 with a walk, two runs and two stolen bases in his first three games for the Salt River Rafters.

Sanchez, 20, plays mostly shortstop and second base but also has mixed in time at third base, too. MLB.com ranked Sanchez the No. 7 prospect in the franchise before 2012, in which he had a .378 OBP and .403 slugging percentage in the minors and finished hitting .323 with 56 RBIs and 26 stolen bases.

Brazilian pitcher Andre Rienzo -- who earlier in 2012 served a 50-game suspension for use of performance enhancing drugs -- struck out five in three shutout innings on Friday. Rienzo, who was rated the Sox 18th best prospect, featured a 93-95 mph fastball and a sharp cutter in his outing, according to ESPN.com’s Keith Law.

Rienzo was 7-3 with a 2.53 ERA in 18 starts between Winston-Salem, Double-A Birmingham and Charlotte this season with 113 strikeouts in 103 1/3 innings.

Andy Wilkins, a fifth-round pick in the 2010 amateur baseball draft, is 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles, a homer and three RBIs in three games. Wilkins, 24, had a .335/.425/.760 slash line and hit 17 homers at Birmingham this season.

Top prospect Trayce Thompson, 21, is only 1-for-8 with two RBIs but has drawn four walks in three games. Thompson had 25 homers and 96 RBIs as he went from Winston-Salem to Charlotte this season to go along with a .253/.328/.482 slash line.

Phoenix 3, Salt River 3 (F/11)

C Sanchez: 0-3, 2 BB, SB, CS (currently 4-for-5 in SB attempts, also sporting a .409 OBP)

Tr Thompson: 0-5, 2 K (now at a slash line of .077/.294/.077/.371, 5 K in 13 AB, but also 4 BB)

S Rodriguez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K (finally a scoreless outing for Santos, taking his ERA down to 10.13)

S Sanchez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K (so far in 3 games: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K)

Salt River 12, Peoria 9

Wilkins: 2-5, 2B, 2 K, RBI, R

Tr Thompson: 1-4, BB, K, R

Ta Thompson: 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Wilkins continues to do well down there. Taylor Thompson looking good so far too, 5 K vs 1 BB in 4 IP, and a GO/FO ratio of 4:1.

I saw where the Reds' Billy Hamilton stole three bases in that game.

Rienzo starting tonight. Sanchez at 2B.

Game still underway, but Rienzo is done for the night and ptiched well again: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. Two starts, he's still got a zero ERA.

Also, Rienzo picked a guy off 1st. Nice to see from a righty.
