ChiliIrishHammock24
I hope Santiago trains to be in the rotation next year. I like him out of the rotation more than the pen. Greg Hibbard
doesn't this take Sale out of a game 163 / playoff game 1 start though? hmmm.
sunofgold
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) I hope Santiago trains to be in the rotation next year. I think him out of the rotation than the pen. Looks like now that Sale wouldn't be able to pitch game 163 if that happens. We better win in 162. Sale's last regular season penciled in to be on Sunday. I believe he could pitch game 1 of the playoffs (hope we make it) Edited September 25, 2012 by sunofgold

I believe he could pitch game 1 of the playoffs (hope we make it) That aspect of it sucks, but if it's gonna make Sale & Peavy's final starts stronger, I will take it. They have seemingly done a good job with Sale & Peavy's rest all season, now is not the time for me to doubt them.
2nd_city_saint787
This gets Peavy into the Tampa series and matches Sale with Price. I like that, if they take care of business these last 9 games they wont need Sale for #163 and Sale can still start game 1 of the playoffs. justBLAZE
Game 163? Not sure what you guys are talking about. Meanwhile, doesn't it give Sale extra rest for game 1 of ADLS?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) Game 163? Not sure what you guys are talking about. Meanwhile, doesn't it give Sale extra rest for game 1 of ADLS? If there is a tie after 162 games, the Sox and Tigers play one game to see who goes to the ALDS. Yea, I was just trying to be a smartass saying we'll get it done in

justBLAZE
@scottmerkin Rotation has been switched: Santiago, Peavy, Floyd, Sale, TBD. Sale is now aligned to pitch in Game No. 163 Boom.
caulfield12
So no Price vs. Sale for the Cy Young? That ship probably already sailed his last 2 starts against the Royals and Indians, anyways. The thinking must be that they have a better chance matching Sale up with Hellickson than Price. Kind of a loser's mentality, but it will be harder to question if it actually works out for us. Liriano and Quintana might not start for the remainder of the season...but that's putting a TON of pressure on Peavy and Sale, as only Floyd is fresh at this point. Leonard Zelig
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) @scottmerkin Rotation has been switched: Santiago, Peavy, Floyd, Sale, TBD. If you notice Quintana has been pulled from Friday's start. I am assuming it will look like this the rest of the way: Santiago (CLE) Peavy (TB) Floyd (TB) Sale (TB) Liriano/Quintana (TB) Santiago ( @ CLE) Peavy (@ CLE) Floyd (@ CLE) Right now it is currently set up to be a Chris Sale vs Justin Verlander match up for game 163. If it's tight, I'd put money on Verlander making 2 more starts this season. Game 163 doesn't mean s*** if we don't get there
cabiness42
So Santiago is giving Peavy an extra day's rest, but Quintana is getting skipped so Floyd and Sale are going on normal rest.
