this is a mystery for the ages, yet he gets paid millions of dollars to say things

he's a valued entertainer, media personality, and has a successful political commentary show. his formula is very simple, like much of FOX news; all your competitors are pro-Democrat, you are pro-Republican. No real competition for your viewers.

The second-best part was the sweet, sweet tears of sadness from the Fox commentators afterwards. Hannity still couldn't let it go that Obama attended the moderator's wedding 21 years ago.

She had them talk more about Afghanistan's economy than our own. I get that she's a foreign policy expert, so that's going to be the majority of her base of questions, but that was such a secondary topic. Other than that I thought she did a pretty good job with the specific questions. She did seem to follow up with Ryan a little more, pressing him for more concrete answers, while Biden was allowed to get away with some just 100% false statements, especially regarding the embassy attack and the administration never knowing that he was requesting more security. That's something she knows and she should called him on it. But whatever, she was fine.

CNN's coverage btw was fairly pro-Ryan. Most of their panel save the one black democrat (who proudly pronounced his affiliation.....nice neutral political pundit on a roundtable) argued that on points it was probably a draw or a slight edge to Biden, but everyone agreed Biden came off like a jerk with the smiling and interrupting. But as I said last night, I think both sides got what they wanted - Biden calmed his base down, Ryan held his own and looked very competent. Win/Win.

the polls coming out show a Ryan with a close win in the debate. CNN put a little pro-Democrat spin on the numbers, but that can be expected.

By a 50%-41% margin, debate watchers say that Ryan rather than Biden better expressed himself.

Seven in ten said Biden was seen as spending more time attacking his opponent, and that may be a contributing factor in Ryan's 53%-43% advantage on being more likable. Ryan also had a slight advantage on being more in touch with the problems of average Americans.

The Republican running mate's four point advantage among a debate audience that was more Republican than the country as a whole is within the survey's sampling error.

Among supposedly 'undecideds' biden crushed it:

A CBS News poll of uncommitted voters who watched the debate gave Biden the edge over Ryan by a 50%-31% margin. Uncommitted voters made up roughly ten percent or less of the debate audience.

the media narrative on an aggressive democrat is going to be that he's a bully or a jerk, whereas an aggressive republican is bold and assertive.

Ryan please answer a question on Romney's opinion on how to deal with a detroit.

"Romney loves cars. One time he helped out a family that got injured in a car crash. I believe that answers your question."

interesting statistic: ryan lied more than 82 times; Raddatz lead with a damaging question for Biden; relied on right-wing framing for unemployment rate (quoting the 6% number from the February 2009 report that didn't have accurate data for how bad the collapse was in the previous months); relied on right-wing framing when she said "medicare and social security are going broke;" and the one social-issues question was framed around religion. No mention of gay rights or immigration.

Most of you make it hard to want to discuss politics, whether it be from left leaning posts which result in others right leaning posts to refute them, or vise-versa. It's too the point that the political discourse in this country is nothing but lies, and accepting those lies, while ignoring your own.

Debate 2012: Point out opponent party lies while ignore your own party lies. Reviewers/watchers will do the exact same.

Result: Nothing.

Not only business as usual in Washington, business as usual with the voters, too.

When Obama had an uninspiring performance everyone on the left skewers him including the entire MSNBC panel. When Ryan gives an uninspiring performance everyone on the right points fingers and makes excuses. Laughable.

Obama lost handily. This debate has certain polls showing a Ryan win. To me, it was a tie, and maybe Biden got the angry uneducated voter to swing to him; which could be substantial.

Also, we are free to critique a moderator whom decided she was entitled to be the third debater.

When Obama debated, I saw the moderator, the altitude, global warming, and even that Obama lost on purpose to make better commercials as excuses for why he didn't debate well.

As Jon Stewart would say, "On bulls*** mountain, we amplify the problems, and simplify the solutions."

Discussing politics is always boring because 99% of people just want their opinion to be what America does, regardless of how hypocritical they are.

Case in point, making abortion and drugs illegal while saying you are for small govt and states rights.

Thats not small govt, thats the worst type of govt intrusion.
