His velocity dropped almost 2 MPH last year. Bad mechanics, injury waiting to happen.

Yeah, I just saw that... something is wrong

Tommy Hanson's average fastball velocity from FanGraphs: 92.7 mph in 2010, 91.2 in 2011, 89.7 in 2012. #braves #angels

Hanson changed his mechanics for the better last year, which may have had something to do with the velocity drop. Nevertheless, his mechanics just aren't good, even after he's tweaked them.

Like I said, he also was dealing with shoulder issues, and those are always worrisome.

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 30 at 4:14pm CST]

The White Sox announced that the Astros claimed right-hander Phil Humber off of waivers. Humber had been a non-tender candidate in Chicago.

Humber pitched in 26 games for the White Sox this past season and threw a perfect game against the Mariners in April. However, he finished the season with a 6.44 ERA, 7.5 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 in 102 innings. The 29-year-old had a projected salary of $1.1MM.

Intra-division trades are not all that common during offseason, but keep an eye on Asdrubal Cabrera and Tigers. Price would be high, though.

That's an odd list of teams for a NTC. Lots of northeast teams, but then the Tigers and Giants are thrown in there.

It is the biggest money, and most aggressive teams out there. It gives him and his agent more power over where he goes.

Sources say #Mets have gotten "serious" about trading R.A. Dickey as soon as this week. #Rangers & #Royals seen as most logical fits.

Wonder how the knuckler would play in Texas
