They'll sell the brands and factories off, the products will still be around.

I know, but temporarily, there will be no more twinkies and ding dongs. This bugs me, because what if I want to buy twinkies or ding dongs after they shut down even though I haven't bought a Hostess product in 3 years? I'LL HAVE TO BUY LITTLE DEBBIE INSTEAD

THE TRAVESTY! THE HORROR!

This means we are one step closer to a world where "Zombieland" is reality.

Seriously, though, I'll believe this when I see it. They will be reorganized or bought out. Like Fannie Mae candy or the Berghoff restaurant, both of which previously also closed "for good."

Meh. I prefer Little Debbie anyways. Wonder why? Two words. "Banana Twins"

There is one in Michigan City. More than the treats, people go there for the cheap bread.

We have one right down the street from our house. Although we don't go there very often because we can get bread right at the grocery store for a buck.

I hate the way they price things though. It's always something like 3 for 5.50 or 1.98 individually. So we end up spending $20 by the time we are done.

I knew I should have stocked up on Twinkies. Not to eat but to sell on eBay. I like Twinkies, Ding Dongs, etc., but I prefer Little Debbie mainly because they are half the price.

Now, anyone who is old enough remembers when Ho-Hos and Ding Dongs were much better...back when they were packaged in foil. I believe the cream was different, too.

I saw some of those auctions on Ebay. People were paying $20 - $40 for a box of Twinkies. We went to the outlet store by our house on Saturday morning and they were wiped out. The shelves at the grocery stores were empty too. I'm sure Hostess will be bought by another company and be back in business before too long.

I'm not sure what these people that are buying the stuff on Ebay plan on doing with the snack cakes when they get them. Freeze them and keep them forever?

I remember the foil packages. They did taste better back then. It seems to me they changed the chocolate covering on the ho-hos and ding-dongs.

@CNBC - BREAKING: Hostess and Bakers Union agree to mediation, preventing shut down.

The vending machine came by about an hour ago and to my utter shock, he filled one of the rows with Twinkies. I was in the middle of debating whether or not to buy out the machine to see what I could re-sell them for when I saw this news and decided against my plan.
