What do you want?

Peace on earth and good will toward men.

Nothing I need, same thing I told my wife. When I want something, I go buy it.

And I have the same problem as you IlliniKrush, I tend to want things for my house now...but at the moment there is nothing of need. If we are talking about wasteful want, I'll take granite countertops. ;) But I'll eventually get around to redoing my kitchen anyway, so it can wait.

I have a ton of things on my Christmas list but none of them are really feasible as gifts that somebody could actually wrap up and put under the tree for me. Most of them are because of cost.

A 2nd computer and a router (preferibly wireless) because we only have 1 computer in the house and everyone always fights over who gets to use it.

A DVR because it would be really nice to be able to record TV shows and watch them later.

A blu-ray player because the only one we have right now is my PS3. We have a 7-year-old DVD player that is on it's last legs and really needs to be replaced.

A garage door opener that works.

Gutters and flashing on the house because we currently don't have any.

A remodeled bathroom.

A driver's license for my daughter because I'm tired of being the only one in the house with one.

A new house because I'm tired of driving 4+ hours to/from work everyday.

A winning powerball ticket.

1974 Plymouth Satellite. It is black with the 440ci under the hood. 10ft body, but runs fast. Will have to wait until I strike it rich in Vegas this march, however, as that is well beyond our present limit. I tried uploading a pic but it keeps telling em I am over the limit.

Dude, is it 4+ hours total both way or are you some sadist doing that one way? I feel your pain, or used to. For about 18 years I went 90 minutes, at least, each way. If I stayed late an hour late I could cut my drive home down to just about an hour. But one accident on I-55 or I-294 before I moved and you can add an extra 30 minutes whatever way I was going. I can barely remember a car with less than 100k miles on it. I hope you get that wish. I now have a 6 minute commute, it is awesome!

My usual response to what I want for Christmas is "I don't know" or " A gift certificate", but this year I'm actually wanting a few specific things.

I'd love to have a Keurig. I drink coffee everyday at work (I have a coffee pot in my office), but it's hard to justify making coffee at home on the weekends. So, having a Keurig would be nice as I could make one cup at a time. In addition, my wife and kids could use it for hot chocolate.

I also have been eyeballing a tablet. As cool as an iPad is, I think I'd actually like the new 8.9" Kindle Fire.

If you don't go with an iPad, please, go with a Nexus model Android. The Fire is simply terrible IMO.

4 hours is round-trip. About 90 miles each way. On the way in I can cover the first 60 miles in about an hour. It's the last 30 miles that takes me an hour or more depending on traffic.

You have to move or work from home. There are some heath risks you are taking by being in the car that much. Your stress level must be off the charts.

I got one for my brother. I'm setting it up for him and yeah...it just doesn't feel right.

We had a very constructive thread recently about tablets. I ended up buying an ASUS TF300T 10.1" for $280. There have also been good deals on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10" for $300. If those deals stay live, I'd look at those first. I don't really suggest Kindle Fire under any circumstance unless there is something magical about that size for you. The hands down best thing out right now is the Google Nexus 7 + 10. The Nexus 7 is the best value and simply the best 7 inch tablet, the Nexus 10 isn't a super-duper value but is the best Android tablet out there and still provides great value compared to iPad.

Second option is not a possibility and probably never will be. First option is a slim possibility but it might take a few years.

Stress isn't too bad. It's mostly lack of sleep and 0 time to do anything besides sleep, eat and work.
