Spacey was a good Lex Luthor. Unfortunately when that movie was made, Lex was not who Superman should have been facing. And again, like bmags said, the problem was solved when Superman threw the problem into space

Well, that's what he does.

I think a problem is the movies never really pushed across anything other than Superman vs Lex Luthor. IMO the best movie is 2, when he goes against Zod.

Yes this is a good point. Though the best known, Lex Luther should not be the villain, because there's nothing the 'evil mastermind' could do that can't be solved with superman's incredible powers.

The only thing they should be doing is movie 1 doomsday movie 2 all the f***in supermen movie 3 the real one returns.

EDIT f*** add movie 4 the awesome story where doomsday comes back and s*** goes down in space

Synopsis: Julian (Ryan Gosling) is a former kickboxer and gangster living in Bangkok. Gosling really makes some offbeat choices, working with his favorite directors.

Kristin Scott Thomas hasn't been good since The English Patient. Joking. But she's far from on a career ascendancy, or even the equivalent of say, Diane Kruger. So interesting casting, along with a local star, which will help with that box office (Thailand), obviously. Gives Gosling more chances to show off his six-pack abs, I guess.

Watched the newer Total Recall the other day and it finally hit me why most movies today bore the crap out of me. They aren't about the story line anymore, they are about the special effects and action. The former Total Recall's acting was awful, as were most of the effects, but the storyline was so much better. They actually kind of oscilated you on the thought that Quaid was or wasn't having his mind screwed with by the Recall process, or he actually was a spy/revolutionary. The new version seemed to be about gunfights, chase scenes, and blowing some things up. Visually it was way better. Mentally it was awful.

I felt the same way after seeing the Great and Powerful Oz. Visually it was great, especially with the special effects. The story was awful. Contrast it to the original Oz, or even the broadway production of Wicked, and you can see an amazing storyline. Wicked was incredibly well written, and was way more entertaining, even with the massive limitations of seeing it live on stage.

Anyone else feel the same way lately?

I think Marvel is spacing all of their movies 5-6 months apart to keep the storyline continuous

...and keep that glorious money pouring in - for sure.

I don't really understand the summer/christmas movies concept. If you release a Blockbuster in October or February it's going to KILL with the lack of selection. I'm hoping this Mark Wahlberg movie coming out Friday gets a decent enough review that we can go see it Saturday!

That trailer said October.

It is coming out in November in the US. It looks like that trailer is for the UK which often has different release dates then the US. Iron Man 3 is being released in the UK a week before it is released in the US, same thing happened with The Avengers.

When Kids are in school, they will go to fewer movies. Simple as that.

Could you imagine how ridiculous Marvel would be right now if they had retained the rights to Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic 4?

Especially since unlike Fox they would probably do a consistently good job with the X-Men movies and would make a not s***ty Fantastic 4 movie.
