Jenksismyhero
Isn't the rumor that he told the two TV show creators how the books are supposed to end in case he dies?
Jenksismyhero
http://www.avclub.com/articles/second-sons...-experts,97439/ What I’m saying is that this is a show with a lot of straight female and gay male fans (and plenty of other fans who can appreciate a good naked dude), and by focusing exclusively on naked women, the show creates the impression that it’s not as welcoming of them as it is of the traditional straight male fantasy audience. Maybe that’s part of a commentary on the show’s world. I’m willing to go with that. But it creates the unfortunate impression that the people who work on the show—who are, so far as I know, completely cool and forward-thinking individuals—have that mindset as well. America in 2013 everybody!
bigruss
I got through about 1/3 of that review and figured the rest of it sucked as much. I'm thoroughly enjoying this season, of course I have small complaints but it's a refreshing take on the books. And sex plays a huge part of the books, which were written by a giant nerd in Martin, who obviously loved putting his sexual fantasies into the books. So should anyone be surprised that most of the nudity is female related? Martin, and the show, still have male nudity and homosexual relations, it's not like he denies them or anything. StrangeSox
I've always thought Martin was pretty transparent in his books about gender roles, misogyny and sexism in the GoT world.
ChiSox_Sonix
My guess is that the season ends with scenes of Sam and Gilly being picked up by Coldhands, UnCat being found by someone (Arya through Nymeria or the BWOB), and Ygritte dying in Jon's arms. That would be the sort of cliffhanger the show could well leave on. As for next episode, it looks like in addition to the RW, we are also going to see Queenscrown (Jon's escape?), Dany taking Yunkai, Arya/Hound interaction and possibly Balon's death. Yara (Asha) was shown in the trailer for the season so it would make sense if it is was in relation to that. I only hope they don't have too much going on so that the shock of the RW gets watered down at all. Jake
QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2013 -> 12:01 AM) The Office finale was pretty much perfect Indeed QUOTE (Brian @ May 17, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) I watched Season 1 of The Office on Netflix since its only like 5 episodes. Outside of Amy Adams appearing, ugh. Is it like other series where it gets better in Season 2? Somewhat, yes. I used to not like the Office until I was able to get invested in the characters. You have to get to the point where they are practically your friends. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) Agreed. Bringing back Michael but only giving him two lines, including a perfect "that's what she said" was a great way to do it. I loved that. Totally caught me off guard too, somehow. QUOTE (MEANS @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Mad Men was pretty crazy/wtf this week. Indeed. I was on day 2 of surgery recovery and pretty doped up on painkillers and...it was weird. QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2013 -> 04:36 AM) No joke. I liked the flashback stuff about why he treats women a certain way, but jeez. I felt like I was on something watching that. See the above. witesoxfan
Not often I cry watching TV. Office finale did it. That show struggled in the last 2 seasons, but they really pulled it all together the last 2-3 episodes or so. StrangeSox
QUOTE (Brian @ May 23, 2013 -> 07:04 AM) Please have Chris Berman be one. Sounds like it's mostly tech/behind-the-scenes people. It's not a sign of trouble for the network. They've been producing huge profits, but they've also been spending hundreds of millions of dollars on SEC broadcast rights, other live broadcast rights and their new $125M SportsCenter set. ChiSox_Sonix
Deadspin's been covering the ESPN layoffs. Sounds like ESPN is taking the directive from Disney, who themselves just had their stock recently reach an all time high.

ChiSox_Sonix
And now ESPN is looking to hire lots of people. Presumably, these will be young and cheap replacements for the older, higher salaried personnel they recently laid off http://deadspin.com/espn-is-now-hiring-you...dium=socialflow Edited May 23, 2013 by ChiSox_Sonix
