I'd like to see PS4 answer back by re-re-clarifying their DRM policy, because if what is posted is true they become more restrictive. At least they would still let me stream movies, White Sox for free and it costs a hundred less up front.

What Sony posted should be the same for Xbox. Both companies are always subject to the licensing agreement of the developer. Thus EA can make someone pay $5 for Madden Online if they really want to and Xbox/Sony arent going to get involved.

Or EA can make a game that wont work if its not online, and Sony/Xbox wont get involved.

Why would they?

Its your call whether to buy an EA game, and if people hate this so much, it would probably behoove EA not to put any silly restrictions on it.

But yeah, at least Xbox was able to see the terrible train wreck and avoid it. Which is good for us all because now Sony will have to still compete with xbox and Ill get my Ps4 cheaper.

The real question is how many people got the old info and never end up getting the revised info? It's always hard to change a story that gets spread around, ask every politician ever.

Well the entire plan by Xbox was terrible. Something like this youd generally hide so deep in a EULA that no normal human would ever understand the consequences until they already bought the product. But for whatever reason Xbox decided that not only were they going to be upfront about this DRM stuff, but they were going to act like it was somehow advantageous to the consumer.

A better strategy in general would have been to either 1) completely slow play it (if Xbox didnt tell us, would anyone even have known about the DRM today? Its not like there is some sort of disclosure law when it comes to video games) or 2) test the waters by leaking rumors and seeing the overall reaction.

Either way it seems like the inmates are running the asylum over there because I assume Xboxone has been in development for years and to make such an about face shows that they dont know where they are going.

The press would have asked them about this stuff had they not told everyone and they eventually would have found out before release.

If this proves anything, its that a lot of people severely overreacted.

If it proves anything, people overreacting was what made the change so I don't think that's accurate at all.

I can agree with that I suppose. Its nice to see that microsoft was quick to make these changes. I think a lot of people were going overboard with how they responded to the initial announcement but if it helped make the change then its a good thing. As I said earlier in the thread though it was a little premature to rule one system the clear winner when so much is likely to change before they are released.

It was still a major setback regardless, just by trying all that stupid s*** gave Sony a chance to become the more popular system... Microsoft already turned me off to point I'm 95% going to get a ps4 anyway down the line.

Not nearly as much as all the crap Microsoft tried to push but yeah that isn't exactly a good thing. I could be wrong but unless Sony really s***s the bed they definitely have the early advantage, it is too bad they are releasing after Xbox.

I think its a little early to determine how much anything will effect either console. I was just pointing out that after how bad microsoft has been raked over the coals this past week its nice to see them learn from their mistakes and correct the issues.

Right, I mean it is nice instead of being stubborn they realized they needed to change things but it already had an effect on a good amount of people. Xbox can still be fine but without all the bs I think they would have been the go to system without any debate.

Ya they definitely havent done themselves any favors. I think a lot of people initially planned on sticking with the next gen console of whatever they currently have until micorsoft dropped the ball at e3. With the news today I think a good amount of xbox gamers who had considered going to ps4 will be rethinking things and likely stay with xbox. Its nice for us as consumers to have the two battling against each other at the same time. Who knows what the price would be or what kind of limitations these systems would have if they werent being released right around the same time.

I was one that was already interested in switching and their respective announcements sealed it. My gaming habits have changed since I bought my XB360 -- when I bought it, I was really into Halo and COD and playing online with my friends, who also had XB360. As time has gone on, I have used my XB360 as a device to occasionally play games offline and to stream movies/sports from Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, MLB.tv, NHL Gamecenter, etc.

I really got sick of paying for XBL to pay for these services that I already am paying out the ass for, things start adding up. Pair that with some crazy billing scheduling quirk they have that led me to paying for more than I wanted and I became fed up.

Seeing the announcements, I'm assured that I can buy used games on the PS4, not pay for subscription just to stream movies/sports, and I pay $100 less up front. Looks like a winner to me, though it is worth mentioning that I may just quit gaming for now and go with Roku. I have a feeling playing video games may detract from my grad school admissions prep :P

If youre not gonna play any games then it doesnt make sense for you to get either. I dont know how many people who play video games dont play them online, but as I understand it if you want to play games online on the ps4 you need to pay for ps plus anyway. But ya, if youre not going to play games you might as well just get a roku.

Lately, the games I would play are sports games where I would generally play franchise mode, superstar mode, and things like that that consume time offline. Of course, I have to make the tough decisions about whether I should be playing games at all especially with the prices of these beasts :|
