SOXOBAMA
Can we wait until they all do something? Hosmer had a Beckham-esque Sophomore slump. Escobar had his first good year last year and is far from a "star". Moustakas wasn't that hot last year, unless a sub-.300 OBP is a star. I'll take the 24 year old Viciedo over the 29 year old Alex Gordon who had to take five years to figure it out. Not young either. What about Lorenzo Cain screams "better than De Aza" or "young" or "star" or anything other than "serviceable." I'll give you Salvador Perez, but he's not exactly a star either. you forget about Butler. Moustakas will be better than Keppinger in the next 3 yrs Escobar & Cain are on the rise Perez will be one of the top catchers in baseball
Quin
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Until billy beane has to pay said future and trades them away for another great future He'd never do that. Just like the Marlins would never try to build a contender through free agency and then fire sale.

Dick Allen
Give him a break about the Royals. He's right. Since 1995 they did win 83 games one year, and only lost 90 or more 12 times. Why the White Sox or any franchise for that matter wouldn't want to be like the Royals is beyond me.
SOXOBAMA
Hey, you are the one labeling them stars, not me. They're stars. If the Sox had Perez, Moustakas, Gordan, Butler, Escobar, Herrera, Holland Crain over what the Sox have now, you would be fighting for those players. witesoxfan
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) What does the past have to do with anything with the Royals of today? Because for the past 5 or 10 years, we've incessantly been talking about their minor league system and how talented their roster is only to see it fall apart and blow up in their face while they lose 90 games again. We've heard this story before and it got old in about 2009.

Can at least ONE of them other than Billy Butler be an All-Star first before being labeled stars?

Well they did win 72 games last year. With their nucleus of stars that were all projected to break out, until they started the season 0-10. But I guess it doesnt have to do with anything. Not that it matters, but most baseball people have the Sox finishing third, behind Detroit and KC in 2013.

Kyyle23
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) Their rotation is a lot better today. If you truly think that the Sox won't have any problem beating up KC, you need to open your eyes That really isnt what we were talking about. We were talking about you labeling half their team as stars and them finishing ahead of the Sox. You really need to open your eyes and go back and read what you wrote and what you were talking about. I totally understand the Royals have beaten the Sox the past couple years, but that didnt effect the end result which was the Sox finishing ahead of the Royals in the standings.
