Gunner gone, Golson gone.

I guess it's back to good 'ole Tommy Rees. Bleh.

Hendrix will put in some strong competition for the job.

And no, there is no tolerance for academic cheating. You need to go to an SEC school or a Florida school if that's how you roll.

I get that plagiarism is bad but it's funny that this is where the university draws the line considering all the bulls*** that has went on there in recent years.

The other things that have happened make ND look bad, but tolerating academic cheating actually devalues the diploma for everybody else. As much we want to see our team win, we need that degree to have the value that we paid (a lot) for. There would be massive outrage from alumni if it was ever found out that the university let this slide, even for a player as vital as Golson.

That's exactly how I feel about it. Strange priorities.

No surprise here. RT @schadjoe: Gunner Kiel says he is committed to Cincinnati. ND return not an option.

He was never going back to South Bend.

Heard Davaris Daniels leaving Irish because of grades and other off field problems. Yikes

Guy who told me is a reporter but would still wait for bigger confirmation.

The morning before the Golson stuff broke I was told Golson and Daniels were off the team due to a cheating scandal. Im guessing he is indeed gone then.

Golston is now only "suspended" until the spring at which time he'll be reinstated.

Background: ND's code of academic conduct in the area of academic cheating/fraud calls for automatic failure in the class for the first offense and dismissal from the university with the possibility of being re-admitted after one semester for the second offense. There is no public knowledge of the first offense because student grades and conduct issues are protected due to privacy issues.

Now here's the Golson/Daniels story as I've heard it: Golson had a previous offense and as a result failed a class. Then during the spring semester, Daniels asked to "look at" a paper Golson had written for a class. Daniels then copied the paper word for word and turned it in as his own. Golson supposedly didn't know Daniels had done this but it doesn't really matter and it counts as an offense for both of them. Now this is Golson's second offense so he is out of school for at least semester but it's Daniels' first offense so as long as failing that one class doesn't pull his overall GPA below an eligible level, he will still be able to play.

What a dick move. Kelly should boot him off the team just for that.

Well, I think the "other off field problems" that somebody else referred to are his teammates giving him a very hard time over this. The situation may work itself out without Kelly having to do anything.

I'm calling BS on the Golson/Daniels paper angle. These kids arent that stupid. Anyone who has given a paper to a friend to "look at" knows exactly whats going to happen.

Maybe you dont expect the entire thing to be copied (if that part is even true) but you do know that your paper is about to get plagiarised.

Depends on the friend, I had plenty I wouldn't have mind giving them a copy so they could get ideas or whatever from mine.

If I was the starting QB whom the school wants to let play for them again that would be exactly my story.

Doesn't really matter what he though Daniels was going to do--it's irresponsible to give him your paper when you already have a strike against you.
