Boras would be fine.

Hed get the best deals first. He just uses the baseball system to his advantage. If if he was NFL, hed use their system to panic teams into offering money quick.

Its the same game.

Speaking of Boras, is Kyle Lohse even going to pitch this year?

Oh hey, a TE that doesn't completely suck.

Going from the 5th worst rated TE (out of 62) to the 5th highest rated in Bennett. He isn't spectacular at anything, but he scored above average in everything (receiving, run block, pass block, etc)

Good red zone weapon too. He's now the second best receiver on the team.

Rozner sums it up best:

Barry Rozner@BarryRozner If Bennett arrives with anywhere from 4 to 10 fingers, he's an upgrade at tight end. #bears

Can't argue with that!........................now send K.Davis packing and save 2.5 mil for the cap!

I just use pro football focus. I wouldn't call the rankings gospel, but the people that do the rankings probably know more than either of us, so it's a decent tool to use.

Oh, and Andre Smith wants 9 mil a year at RT and is regarded as one of the best (if not the best) RT in the league, so we don't have to use the grading thing with him too much.

PFF looks at every single player on every single play and assigns him a rating based on objective criteria that they have created. May not be perfect, but beats our ability to eyeball.

@nfldraftscout

Per team, #Colts have signed LB Erik Walden, formally of #Packers.

Thank god.

You excited about Stephen Jackson, potentially?

Per team, #Colts have signed LB Erik Walden, formally of #Packers.

Thank god.

Walden gave Cutler and the Bears o-line a real hard time.

This is the scoop Ive been waiting for:

"Jake Long extremely interested in signing with Bears, wondering when they will offer, willing to give discount"

Technically true!

Yeah man, I'll take league minimum if they get me on the pension when I'm done.

While I liked another LT more, I really can't complain. Kramer is comfortable with him and knows him and obviously believes he can protect and do a good job. This also allows our RT spot to get significantly better (I think Webb over their is a huge huge upgrade over the pile of feces Carimi was). Carimi can now compete at guard or prove/earn a job at the tackle spot.

Bears now can look at guard in the draft (possibly) or can move on to linebacker / best player available in the 1st round (which is quite nice). Can't argue that the Bears just filled 2 of their biggest needs (TE & Oline help) via free agency. I'm sure this was a very expensive signing.

I'm very interested to see what kind of $$ we're dishing out in these deals, but... I love the fact that we locked up LT and TE today. Leaves plenty of options for them at #20 and allows Emery to definitely go BPA, which is always the smart move.

I expect them to draft a guard in the 1st two rounds. My guess is the other pick will be a LB, but they could also use some youth at the cornerback position. I know they've also kicked the tires on some receivers and could look at Tavon Austin at 20.
