QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 10:47 AM)
If you really think you and others on here know obvious plays that will no doubt work for yardage and Trestman doesn't, it's time for the Fire Trestman thread. Without a doubt if he called for one of these so called slants and the pass was tipped and picked off, the experts who now say that would have worked would have been saying, "they were in obvious FG range, why are they taking any chances?

It's Monday morning. If whatever he called worked, he is a genius. If it didn't, it was foolish.

For his career, indoors, Robbie Gould is 15-17 from 40-49 yards out.

Before yesterday he had not missed since 2006 from 40-49 yards out while kicking indoors.

Those are the stats

The only thing that scares me about the Bears under Trestman is they are giving off a sort of Cowboys vibe. A talented offensive team with a bad performing defense and makes stupid ST plays and penalties all over the field, good for 8-8 every year. And we have Jay Ratliff.

And their former ST coordinator.

Realistically we have no idea what the defense would have been this year. We had guys out for the season in the exhibition season, and it has been downhill since. The only main defensive player who hasn't missed time is Peppers.

And he was absolutely brutal before getting 3 sacks yesterday.

everything about this season has screamed transition to me, so Im not going to get overly worked up either way. As fun as the offense has been to watch, the defense has been that brutal. Things need to be fixed, but we all knew eventually the bottom would drop out of this high scoring defense sooner or later. Unfortunately the offense popped one season too late.

Emery will have a very interesting offseason ahead of him. Many decisions to be made in personnel

Its kind of funny that Dallas took Marinelli and their defense has also been historically bad. And for the most part they have had it intact, at least not to the injury numbers the Bears have experienced

Oh I know, and I feel really bad for Tucker and think he deserves another year. What the hell can he do? He rushes three to help with pass, they get no rush and the LBs are hysterically out of position. Need a pass rush? you need to rush 7, and they won't get there. Stop the run? Hell, put in 10 in the box, they'll be out of position and the RB will be untouched past your linebackers.

I do think if you fix the dlineman you fix 90% of d's problems. But once again, that's the most expensive position. We need to hit on our drafts. We need to hit on our drafts. We need to hit on our drafts.

Having a relatively healthy D-line would have fixed most of the problems by itself.

But going into the season we knew our dline was super thin. You aren't going through an nfl season without injuries to that position.

And we need to keep our guys fresh. I think Wootton and Peppers could still be good players but not if they are playing 100% of snaps. We are trying to rotate but it's with garbage players off the scrap heap.

It didnt help that the guy they signed to help with depth decided to retire on the first day of training camp(Cedric Ellis). They really got screwed right away on D Line. They have been in street guy mode all season at DT, and were sort of lucky that Ratliff became available, and I only say sort of because the Bears had to wait until he got healthy to play him.

Obviously anything can happen in one game but good luck beating Seattle in Seattle in the playoffs.

Exactly. I don't know if Seattle is the best team in the NFC but they are the overwhelming favorite with home field advantage. (Just disregard the Buccs game)

Emery keeps saying it is not going to happen

He's got a good point in that the 3/4 DT is really tough to find...but you could also say that just maybe he doesn't want to play his hand before signing or drafting that guy.

ESPN spent most of that game last night drooling over how loud the stadium was, but couldn't be bothered to mention that like half the Seahawks team has tested positive for PED's.

That being said the Seahawks are by far the best team in the NFC.

I agree, he could definitely make the switch if he feels he can slip the personnel into the scheme in one swift offseason
