Bears have no 3rd round pick in 2013 draft, traded it in Marshall deal!

Unless we trade down!

Sean Jensen ‏@seankjensen

#Bears GM Phil Emery makes clear improving at TE and LT provides for greater flexibility to trade back from 20th pick and possibly get more.

The anticipated Bears roster adjustments this offseason began on Tuesday with additions of left tackle Jermon Bushrod and tight end Martellus Bennett. The pace of change picked up on Wednesday with the release of Davis, followed by tight end Matt Spaeth and defensive tackle Matt Toeaina.

Welker to the Broncos with Thomas and Decker? Holy s***.

1. That is an awesome receiving corps.

2. That is the whitest receiving corps I've ever seen with Welker, Stokley, and Decker (you can throw in Dressen and Tamme too). They should go get Brian Hartline and Kevin Walter too.

That's not good news for the Bears, GB finally has an actual RB

Stephen Jackson will have something to prove, but it always seemed he had a nagging injury that dragged through the season.

Just heard on 670 that the Bears are looking to trade down, probably want to get that 3rd rounder back.

I believe Emery was asked about the concept today and his answer was that filling those 2 big needs gives them the flexibility to move down if that's what they decide to do.

I'm not a scout, I know nothing, but if we ended up with Barrett Jones, I would be happy. Versatile and possible C replacement, or potential guard.

I love Barrett Jones. He's not a guy that wows you in any particular facet and he's pretty average athletically, but he's tough, smart, and versatile. And guys like that can spend a long time being solid o-lineman in the NFL. I'm not sure he's worth a 2nd round pick, though. And I doubt he falls as far as Round 4.

Have you seen Hartline's new deal? Nobody is going to touch that

So, Seattle now signed Cliff Avril. This is nice, but in 2-4 years, how will they be able to keep Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor, Irvin, Tate, Baldwin, Wilson, Browner, Unger, and Okung?

You worry about that when the time comes. For now, they'll just enjoy all of the cheap, young talent they have.

Exactly, try to win the Super Bowl now, worry about the rest later. Plus, guys get hurt, upset, slow, etc. Some of those roster decisions take care of themselves.

They won't be able to keep all those guys. That is the downside of signing big name free agents.

Sherman is gonna wanna be the highest paid CB ever.

That's right. If they play well enough to garner huge contracts, you've had a few nice seasons. And attrition is a huge part of the NFL.

It certainly is a great problem to have. Much rather have to worry about how you are going to sign all your young studs in the future than have a ton of cap room and no one on your roster worthy of it.
