cabiness42
What do you call jumping on a player after he has been tackled? He didn't do anything to crazy, but we all know what Shea had in mind when he jumped on Rodgers. By the letter of the rule it may have been a penalty, but forget the rule for just a second and look at reality. Shea is running full out right at Rodgers. Rodgers suddenly gives himself up and goes down. Someone of Shea's size and speed does not physically have the time to avoid contact. He did an admirable job by limiting the contact to what it was. It's not like Rodgers was in the process of throwing the ball or in the process of being tackled where Shea can recognize the situation as one where he needs to let up to avoid contact. Rodgers gave himself up suddenly. The rules protecting QBs have gotten so severe that QBs can actually game the system to create penalties when there is clearly no intent. I'm not saying that's what Rodgers was trying to do, but it was the net result.
pettie4sox
The delay of game penalty they missed was pretty bad. The ball at the one yard line was another, how in the world was that touch back is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, the Packers definitely played better when it counted. On the delay of game non-call, another issue is that the TE did not get set until there was one second left on the play clock. So it was not physically possible for him to be set for a full second and for there not to be a delay of game penalty.

They hardly ever call a delay of game in that situtation. They always give that extra 1/2 second.

He dun goofed. I think he was assuming that Cobb was going to just run a curl to the first down marker. Cobb said that he recognized Conte was back on his heels so he threw his hand up and ran a streak.

I thought we were talking about missed calls for a bit so I thought I'd chime in. All in all the Bears had plenty of opportunities to end the Packer's seasons. 3-4 4th downs and the Packers converted on each one. That's playing better when it counts. Enjoy the victory because the 49ers are going to send you guys golfing.

Briggs didn't just get a piece of Rodgers, he tackled him and Shea comes over and falls on him. The play was right in front of him, he knew it was over. Like I said it wasn't the most vicious hit of all time, but he wanted to get a little extra hit on Rodgers. With the way the NFL protects QBs in this league, he should have known better. I just thought the Packers received the benefit of the refs yesterday, but it ultimately didn't affect the outcome of the game. The Packers deserved to win that 100% and it was a highly entertaining game. The delay of game call, or lack thereof, definitely could have affected the outcome of the game. The Bears likely get the ball back if the call is made. I'm not saying the Bears deserved to win or that the Packers would have even lost if they punted, but to say they didn't affect the outcome is something I can't agree with. That was a huge call. Not complaing, just saying.
