2013-2014 NFL Thread

The thing is, this guy is going to have to stay clean, but considering the contract and the terms, it's a great deal for the Bears and he should be super motivated.

It's about as risk-free financially as the Bears could get. The only risk they are taking, and it could be a big one, is if they are totally counting on him.

Williams' numbers looked great when he played full-time. But since he's nearing 31, you have to wonder about his physical abilities deteriorating, especially since he might not be on the juice anymore.

Submitting a non-human urine sample. lol

And he got 3 extra games for violating the substance abuse policy.

I thought he got the extra three games for a second DUI?

Might as well have just kept Urlacher and spared all the uncertainty about the locker room and pissing off the fanbase.

Im pretty sure part of the reason they did not want Urlacher is in case the bears d doesnt do well, and people start asking if this would have happened under Lovie Smith.

Its often just easier to get rid of any issues like that before it starts.

Honestly DJ Williams at that price isnt bad at all.

Agreed 100%.

The bears should never take into account pissing off the fanbase when making moves. They should always think about winning games, if they do that then the locker room and fan base issues take care of themselves.

Urlacher is done, I know you dont want to accept it, but that knee is f***ed. DJ Williams is an upgrade over the current version of Urlacher, and if he comes in healthy and motivated he is an extremely good player.

Don't have the links handy - just saw it on my phone when doing some surf and turd - Bears were/are interested in Nick Barnett, Trestman doesn't like Cutler's mechanics and wants him to be more consistent, and he loves Forte out of the backfield as a pass catcher.

A huge persona that was a big supporter of the previous regime probably isn't seen as a good locker room presence by the new regime.

The Bears fans base is pretty much like the Cubs fan base... They aren't going anywhere. Do what is best for the team, because Bears fans aren't going anywhere. The stadium will be full, and the media ratings will be amongst the highest in the NFL.

That's because most Bears fans are Cubs fans.

You have to think what DJ Williams signed for even further hurts the amount Urlacher will be asking for in free agency. Williams may have had off the field issues, but he is healthy, younger, and got considerably less than the Bears offered Brian.

The exact same thing happened with Kreutz. The Bears offered him more than any other team in the NFL would have based on his age and performance the year or two beforehand, Kreutz decided it was an insult, the Bears signed someone else for less money, Kreutz then signed elsewhere for less than the Bears offered.

And then he quit when he realized he wasn't going to get the favored treatment he got with the Bears.

Wonder if he will get a chance to start. Tommy almost transferred to my high school back in the day until the IHSA started sniffing around. We still went to state title game before he graduated, always wonder how much better we would have been with him around.

Bears sign James Anderson to one year deal, according to Sean Jensen

Highly productive player in Carolina, had back issues last year though. Another impressive athlete, posted a 4.47 to go along with DJ Williams who had a 4.45. I like it.
