southsider2k5
This is going to be a completely different Bears team in a year or two. There is some real hate between the new management group and the players. Adam Jahns @adamjahns 11m #Bears CB Charles Tillman: "I’ve got one year. Do my year and be done. Steve9347
He's doing the right thing in the fact that the Bears would be nuts to want to extend Tillman for his age 33 season and beyond.
GoSox05
I didn't realize how many players on the Bears are going to be free agents. Tillman, Jennings, Melton, Cutler, Wright, Wootton and Gould. Yikes.

Peanut is old, Jennings has had one good season, Melton is already over paid, Jay is going to get an extension one way or another, Wright and Wootton...possibly if they're cheap but it's not like they're irreplaceable and do you really want to pay Robbie Gould 4 million a year? I think he has a lot to prove still and I don't like how outspoken he was regarding the lack of resigning guys. Just STFU. No point in saying it. Plus, with 44 guys due contracts, you can't possibly just let everyone be FA's.

If he doesn't you let him go but now you have a void to fill If you have guys that have performed and are worthy of an extension, f***ing extend them. Don't be a giant boob. Everyone always blasted Angelo, but as of this point, last years draft looks pretty lousy. We'll see...maybe Shea steps up. The only saving grace in that draft was Jeffrey and he still has a lot to prove (and anyone with half a brain would have taken him). I suppose I can give him credit for making some solid FA signings this year but letting Idonjie walk and now having turds making almost as much as him doesn't help (Israel was much better then Sed Ellis, who retired, and Anderson). Idonije has been playing end the last few years, he is really undersized for a DT. And with McClellin, Wooten, Peppers, Washington, McBride fighting for two positions, he really got edged out. Last year Wooten basically took it from him. Inside it is gonna be Melton, Collins, Irvin, Minter, Paea all rotating, just a tough numbers game for Idonije. Jake
I agree. Jury is still out on Emery. There has been some good and some bad so far. I don't see him being around long enough to fire Trestman if Trestman has to be fired EDIT: in other words, I think he has staked his job on Marc Trestman to a large extent Edited July 27, 2013 by Jake

This year they could still blame on Cutler, but they're not going to be wanting to ditch him and completely start over next year.

Jay Cutler is one guy I absolutely want to see playing for a contract this year. Yeah, if he Flaccos it, then he doubles what he could get in the offseason but the Bears walk out of the Super Bowl for that to happen.

Inside it is gonna be Melton, Collins, Irvin, Minter, Paea all rotating, just a tough numbers game for Idonije. I understand that. And I know we kind of jerked him around between gaining and losing weight to play DT or DE. But I still think he provided good depth on the DL as a whole, and could have definitely spent valuable backup minutes at DT. Even undersized, he's clearly better than any DT on our roster not named Melton or Paea.

Even undersized, he's clearly better than any DT on our roster not named Melton or Paea. And it isn't even close. Our dline is extremely thin. Kyle, outside of Wooten, Shea, and Peppers, there is nothing all that grand about our ends either. Idonjie clearly had a place on this roster and would have been an excellent vet to have filling in and playing on pass rushing downs. For god sakes Kyle, you are listing guys like Irvin. Irvin is a giant nobody compared to Idonjie. Emery screwed the pooch on that. Thankfully, Wooten is starting to look like a player. I'm curious to see if he can stay healthy and also see how he can continue his development without Marinelli around (and if he will continue to take steps forward). Speaking of Wootton, this is from Jeff Dickerson earlier. Not that it means everything, but glad to hear that Wootton seemingly hit in hard this off-season: Jeff Dickerson @ESPNChiBears DE Corey Wootton put in the work this offseason, no doubt about it. Could be in line for a nice bump in pay with another productive season.
