There is a concern with choosing someone too young and having them serve for three decades or longer. If they go outside Europe, I believe they will go older to shorten the time.

The best laid plans...they picked a 78 year old, probably for the same reason, last time.

One of the leading canddates is from Africa. What happens more times than not is the leading candidate has both strong support and equally strong detractors, leaving a path for the guy who is the 2nd choice but without much "baggage". Like SS2k5 I enjoy the pomp and circumstances and ancient ritual that lead to the choice.

I enjoy it also. I'm predicting one from Africa based on Africa having the greatest growing Catholic population in the world. With the way America is going toward religion, they've lost the foothold here and will look toward that area of the world.

No need to insult people like that, jeez.

Just making a comparison where no matter what happens, there's a group of people who will never find any fault with a person/organization even though the evidence is there.

Yeah, but when has a Polish person ever done anything wrong? Always the victim.

Also, that no matter what someone will rip every organization/person.

Not sure what this means. Was there or was there not a massive child molestation scandal that has rocked the catholic church for decades?

There was. You were pointing out how some people will only think see the positive about the situation. I was pointing out that there also people who will only see the negative.

Here's an interesting bit of language stuff for you that I learned today: Apparently "resign" is a poor translation of the Latin, and "renounce" is the more appropriate word. Makes sense, since "resign" implies you're accountable to a person/entity above you (an earthly entity).
