fathom
Two of the top pitching prospects in the majors look like total garbage tonight in Bauer and Teheran. Should be interesting seeing Jose Fernandez go for Miami tomorrow.

Noonskadoodle
QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) walked the first 4 batters of the game. Yea other than the walks I thought he looked fine. 2 hits in 5 innings....1 being a 2 run bomb to Kelly Johnson. Def has the ability to escape trouble, which you look for in top prospects. A lot of the big name pitchers didn't have the best of games. And honestly, Sale wasn't exactly sharp today either.
GoodAsGould
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Strausburg, Verlander, and Price got whipped today. Those 3 plus Dickey, Hamels, and Cain. Even Sale/Verlander were merely avg today, would of thought today would of been all about pitching.

zenryan
wow, the umps totally bent over the Rays on the final called strike to end it 5-4 vs Texas. Would've put runners on 1st and 2nd for Longoria. I cant stand Hawk but if he was calling for the Rays, he would no doubt be suspended for a game or two after that call.
Brian
That may have been one of the worst K calls ever. Would loved to hear his reasoning when Maddon was arguing. Cleveland, cheer Hafner, boo Thome. Makes sense.
cabiness42
That may have been one of the worst K calls ever. Would loved to hear his reasoning when Maddon was arguing. Just watched the replay. How does that get called a strike? MLB needs to sanction that ump if they want the umps to continue to have any credibility with the teams. IlliniKrush
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 06:57 AM) Just watched the replay. How does that get called a strike? MLB needs to sanction that ump if they want the umps to continue to have any credibility with the teams. It's a ball, but that call barely gets attention if Pierzynski receives it correctly. Pierzynski absolutely turned that into a ball and made it look awful. Perception is reality, and catchers can help or hurt themselves when receiving pitches. Pierzynski gave up on it, which is enough to make it a ball. Even had that caught the zone, you still should ball it. It's shocking that Pierzynski would give up on a curve ball that could possibly end the game and didn't miss by THAT much.
