I was pretty excited when Sale came up.

That at bat against Mauer Hawk still refers to ought to go down in history. Joe Mauer walked away from the plate awestruck.

I do not remember this. Any video?

Despite being in rebuilding mode and having very high draft picks for 20 years, and constantly being ranked close to the top minor league systems in baseball the Royals haven't drafted a pitcher who has made at least one major league start since 2004.

That can't be right. Luke Hochevar. Who was that kid that blew his elbow out against the sox last year? Danny Duffy?

Pretty sure it was when he first came up, August 18th 2010. Gave up one hit, but he struck Mauer out on 3 pitches. Mauer went 4-4 in his other plate appearances, including a double and a homer.

Puig game story.

Can you imagine if he was doing this for the White Sox, how crazy everyone would be going?

Haven't had that level of excitement about an individual player for at least four seasons now, since the Beckham rookie year.

Too bad baseball sucks ass at marketing it's stars. Not that this guy is a star - yet. The talent influx that's hit baseball the last 4-5 years, Stras, Kershaw, Darvish, Harper, Trout, Machado, McCutchen, etc, has been incredible. These guys should be household or on their way to becoming household names. Outside of hardcore baseball fans and fantasy geeks, these guys are relatively unknown.

Ugh, Daniel Hudson re-tore his UCL and may need the Tommy John again.

That really sucks, you feel for the guy. The asshole in me wants to say that the Sox may have seen this coming which was why they wanted to get value for him too. The 3 best players they've really given up in the last 10 years are Gonzalez, McCarthy, and Hudson. Gonzalez has bitten them in the ass, but he is the case of a guy really hitting his ceiling and it is hard to project guys that are 5'10 and wild as hell. McCarthy's had arm problems, and this is the second time Hudson has torn up his elbow. You can say they've dodged bullets, but when this kind of stuff happens for 10+ years, it becomes less about dodging bullets and more about being ahead of the curve.

gotta love MLB umps.

Joyce leads off game with HR against Lackey.

2 outs no one on in the bot of 6 and Joyce gets drilled by Lackey. Of course the umpire gives a warning to both teams. So for tonight Lackey got a free pass.

I understand Lackey has gone thru some personal stuff recently, but what a tool he was last night. Totally uncalled for. Fine or suspend him.

Didn't know they got divorced. Agreed. That's bs

Sounds just like a former Speaker of the....or former Sen. Edwards.

Definitely not going to elicit much sympathy with such cold moves as that from anyone.
