LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) One of the most underrated players since Todd Helton. Choo has always been one of my favorite players in the league, but just this year I realized that he just cannot hit lefties at all. That and him being 31 already would concern me a bit about giving him a big contract.

Balta1701
Exactly what the Cubs need. An expensive corner OF. Thankfully they haven't moved any of those for beans recently otherwise that move would really look silly.
Harry Chappas
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) Somebody has waaay too much free time: https://twitter.com/sincecubsws Isn't there a rooftop with that has that posted on it in roman numerals or something. Choo is going to be the difference in that rebuild... I watched the 13th inning yesterday and there was a little kid with a Junior Lake t-shirt jersey.....I hope the kid was Steve Lake's son. They have game worn jerseys for sale. Paulies usually is over $1000, but you could get a Dellaero or the equal for $25.

LittleHurt05
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) Cubs will get the third pick. There are 11 teams within five games of each other in the battle for the 3rd pick. Much more exciting than the 2nd wild card race.

I said the same thing about a week ago. I know the Sox farm can use anything right now but I'd prefer they go with a hitter. Looking at the Cubs top prospects I'd venture to believe they'll go pitching this year, esp in a draft that right now seems to have a lot of pitching projected to go high. Dick Allen
I was told on this very board the Cubs are much more talented than the Sox and have a superior manager. No way they get the third pick.

The last first-rounder they had that really made a major impact for them at the big league level was Mark Prior. And he basically fell into their laps. The Cubs have one starting pitcher who could crack the Sox rotation. Maybe 2 if you want to argue Jackson over Danks, but I'd still take Danks. EvilJester99
I love how people think the Cubs are in better position than the Sox. Sox have a much better pitching staff and pretty young. So the Cubs have been stock piling prospects but how many times have people heard this prospect or that prospect is the next big thing and they end up being a bust. fathom
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) There was conversation on the radio Sunday morning talking about the great cub rebuild and the consensus was that they are still four to five years away from contending. 2015 is the year they're looking to start contending from all accounts. They have 4 of the top 21 prospects in baseball according to Kiley McDaniel...ouch http://sbb.scout.com/2/1320072.html
Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) 2015 is the year they're looking to start contending from all accounts. They have 4 of the top 21 prospects in baseball according to Kiley McDaniel...ouch http://sbb.scout.com/2/1320072.html So they're going to be contending in 2015 and at the end of 2013 only 1 of those prospects on the list has made AA? The 3 guys in A-ball this year are going to polish off AA and AAA next year and be ready to contribute to the big league roster? I assume that means they're trading at least 3 of those guys then.
