Chicago White Sox
Dan McNeil is a total idiot. Asking why the Cubs aren't calling up their top prospects given that the Dodgers just called up Puig. Said unless it was a money thing, he doesn't see a reason not to bring them up and get some playing time in a losing season. Is he actually unaware of this thing called "development"? greg775
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) There are a few other places she could land that I would be perfectly OK with. Like in my bedroom. Great line. I had to laugh. Great column on Bobby Hull. Man that was excellent. I didn't realize Bobby was such an asshole. Any man that hits a woman is a f***ing asshole. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Just wow on the Susannah Collins firing. The ironic part is that those video's are what got her hired for her 1st sports related job. I'm glad she's got a lot of support and glad the whole old Hawks front office is taking heat over it. Apparently it's fine to have Bobby Hull and Kane be douches because the positives they bring far outweigh the negatives. In Collins case since she isn't a legend or a current superstar or skating around on ice in skimpy clothes or shooting the puck between periods in tight jeans and a low cut sweater she's expendable. Wouldn't surprise me if Wirtz or McDonough saw the videos asked for sexual favors and were tuned down, then they fired her. I know that's a completely irresponsible thing to say. but f*** it I hate spin control/propaganda and micromanaging . It's just perfectly fine to sell sex because sex sells, but God forbid you express an opinion that doesn't jibe with corporate propaganda. Hmmmm. Yea he left saying he was getting treatment for depression but it is starting to look permanent. Probably for the best for the station. McNeil would come back, then leave for a few weeks, then repeat

Hmmmm. Probably going to have to turn to NPR and hope that they do a sports segment sometime during the 9-1 slot. Not too long ago, I think one of the topics they looked into was The origins of Chicago sports mascots. That's far more compelling than Larry being full of himself, name-dropping people who might not even know who he is, and verbally ogling women in the Chicago media on the air like a creeper. That's just makes for an uncomfortable listen. I really hope Mac comes back, even if it means I have to listen to more blackhawks or gambling talk packed into 4 hours than I'd care to hear in 100 lifetimes. Swingandalongonetoleft
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Under what cirucmstances are you guys listening to so much sports radio? At work? On the way there/home? Just for funzies? Work, for the most part. If something is going on in the sports world that I'm interested in, I'll find a way to mix it in with my music while I drive as well. I'm also one of those people that fall asleep better with background noise, so while I bought an air purifier that has a nice, steady hum for that reason, I'll sometimes have The Les Grobstein Takes Calls From the Stupid Show that airs overnights on 670. Most of my my sports talk consumption, though, takes place leading up to and during the baseball season. With the Bears/NFL- after the third or fourth day of talking about the same game, it's just not that riveting anymore. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 12:48 AM) Yes, please don't talk about the best team in the city. More bears talk! No denying that they are and will be for the foreseeable future, it's just not my cup of tea. I wouldn't be pouncing on my radio to absorb every second of Chicago Sky or Chicago Bandits talk if they were dominating their respective leagues either. He supposedly made a Facebook post saying the same thing. Both posts have been deleted (I never saw either one, so I can't be 100% sure they ever existed in the first pace). Read into that what you will. He gets great ratings, but I often wonder how much more SCORE management will tolerate.

It became more about him than the show.
Jake
I was able to meet Waddle and Silvy a while back and they're both real cool guys and pretty much the only ones I'd specifically tune into 1000 for. With that said, 670 turns into pure bulls*** regardless of who is on the air if there is any contentious story going on

Brian
I definitely tune in when a big story breaks, but everything else is just blah. And most personalities take themselves way too seriously, which turns me off.
