Kyyle23
I don't think it's Lawrence Holmes because that guy is doing so many things right now in tv as well as radio. Rozner is a possibility, I guess Abbattacola is in the running, and I think Goff

IlliniKrush
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I'm loving the B&B 15th Anniversary Show. High noon and some second hand news? Epic.
Y2Jimmy0
I think that the new Co-Host will be Patrick Mannelly. Not sure if that makes sense when it's not football season but just a hunch.
Kyyle23
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) I think that the new Co-Host will be Patrick Mannelly. Not sure if that makes sense when it's not football season but just a hunch. i like Patrick Mannelly and I like his contributions in his small time at the score, but i think that would be a tremendous mistake in an important timeslot. You simply cannot replace Mac with a guy who has been doing the job for less than 3 months. Actually, he really has never done the job. He has been an analyst on a few shows and sat in with Spiegel a few times, but he has absolutely no experience in that job. that would be Hamp & Holmes disaster part

I don't get into this mix much but all I can say is you are severely underscoring Mannely's smarts and ability to speak and handle the role. Will there be growing pains, certainly, but guy has loads of potential and brings a lot of real insights and articulate conversation to the mix. Growing pains are reserved for timeslots other than midday and afternoon drive. This is an important timeslot and you need to put your best foot forward, way too much uncertainty for me
Brian
Score should be too scared from the Dan Hampton wreck. One of the worst hosts I've ever heard. Haven't heard Mannelly but sure he's better than Dan was.
Kyyle23
@Jason1Goff: Another way to hear me on the radideo (radio) will be announced from what I am told tomorrow. Looking forward to this opportunity. @Jason1Goff: Thanks to everyone who stuck around through madness the last few months. You're greatly appreciated. Told you it was gonna be a good summer. Kyyle23
Announcement at 3PM. I find that kind of weird, that it isnt being announced during the midday shift. Makes me wonder if Goff is replacing a retiring Boers
Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) Announcement at 3PM. I find that kind of weird, that it isnt being announced during the midday shift. Makes me wonder if Goff is replacing a retiring Boers Goff will be co-hosting Afternoon Drive on the new BleacherReport network on Sirius/XM. That was announced today. The Midday show on 670 will be Matt Spiegel/Patrick Mannelly. Lots of clues. On Thursday during transition they all said goodbye to each other and Spiegel said "See You Soon" to Mannelly. B&B had been dropping clues last week too. Not sure if it will work but I'd be surprised if it's anything other than Spiegs and Mannelly. Kyyle23
Well, if that is the case, good luck to Patrick. I like him, but that is a bigtime shift for a guy with no experience

Kyyle23
I dont think Mannelly has the personality of a doorknob, but i heard him trying to read a promo the other day and he was pretty robotic. He has a ways to go, i hope he can catch up to speed and not drag Spiegel down
HuskyCaucasian
I dont like it at all. I agree about having a general flat personality/delivery. The Score went with the cheap hire, rather than a more qualified person.

G&T
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Sounds like a big slap in the face to guys like Holmes and Abbatacola. No wonder Goff left. The only explanation I can think of is that a lot of people associate Holmes, Abbatacola and Goff with B&B and the style of show becomes too similar throughout the day. I wouldn't be shocked if Spiegel didn't want them permanently. This hire sucks though. After Hampton you really shouldn't do this again. Are we even sure they wanted the job? Holmes is busy with that 120 sports, or whatever it is. At least the Game has hired younger up and coming guys and given them a shot instead of mostly retreads. The bottom line is that the Bears moves the meter. Waddle and Jurkovic are both former NFL players that have prominent gigs in local radio. Jarrett Payton also played in the NFL and he has a show too. I bet Mannelly is better than all of those guys. Not that it's that tough to be better than those guys. Haha, up and coming guys like Finfer and McKnight. And Haugh is a long time respected writer that can actually speak on the air well and has never had a regular show.
