Whatever ESPN Radio 1000 has on in the morning it is beyond bad and unlistenable.  I think it is different people every day but i can't listen to it long enough to get an idea.

I almost listened to Tommy Hockavey it was so bad but I remembered that 94.7 is pretty good.

Was in the car without SIRIUS in case you were wondering.

He's his own worst enemy.

I’m not sure that they address it on the show until he gets whatever punishment Rosen or even worse, DeCastro doles out. It’s a really dumb comment that he made on a woman that was dressed up.

^^^ Haven't listened to the score in years (thank you satellite radio!) but this is true.  I mean, from when I was listening, this can't even be in the top 100 misogynistic things he has said.  Seems pretty mild for him actually.

If Bernstein said what he said years ago this year, he would have been fired easily. I don’t agree with what Mac said but this decision couldn’t have come from Rosen, it had to come from corporate at Entercom. He’s definitely gotten cancelled in some respects and I hope he goes back and does Unsupervised again. Mostly, I hope he’s able to take care of his son Patrick.

I wonder if Spiegel will join Parkins in the afternoons or if the Score will just have solo shows after Mully and Haugh. It just seems so bland without another host. I only tuned into afternoons because of Mac because I can’t dig Parkins. It’s just really too bad even if it is a lesson to all, to be careful with what we put out there and consider the actions of our words.

It absolutely came from Entercom. Mac should have never sent the tweet because it's stupid but he also shouldn't have deleted it. Never let a crisis go to waste. He gave the company an opportunity to dump him and that's on him but this wasn't a fireable offense. It was a poor attempt at a joke that didn't land. I'm really not sure who it's even offensive towards. If you're offended that Maria Taylor was compared to someone who would host a porn awards show, doesn't that mean that you think people who work in the entertainment industry are in fact lesser? Shouldn't those people be offended that people are offended about being compared to them? The same people who were outraged over a dumb tweet would say that those who work in the adult entertainment industry are respected people as well with jobs. So what gives then? If the offense is that he was objectifying a female that was just trying to do her job then that's fine but that isn't how this has been painted.

Coincidentally, 670 just announced Leila Rahimi will be cohosting with Dan Bernstein every Wednesday.

I think she deserves are real shot at 670. McNeil probably demanded so much money, they could hire two hosts to replace him.

I agree. I thought she did a good job as the host on the Sox shows. The only issue is can she put up with the arrogant Bernstein on a daily basis. I'm sure that's why it's every Wednesday for now.

She may not wind up with Bernstein. I would expect them to shuffle things again.

No. The tweet shows that McNeil thinks lesser of people in that industry, and then compared Taylor to them.

I'm glad to hear Leila is getting a shot at the Score. She was fantastic on CSN, and I was surprised to see they let her go. I hope she sticks around in Chicago media. As for Mac, I've consumed very little sports talk over the past few years, and only recently started tuning in on the ride home from work again (may be related to the state of the White Sox).  I liked the show he and Parkins had. This is a bummer in that regard, but this is also not the first time Mac has said or done something that has gotten him canned, so...

I hope they get Spiegel paired up with Parkins again.

Actually he doesn't. Over the years he has talked about the industry, going to their conventions and even had some of the stars for interviews on his shows.

I'm not convinced that's the same thing. To think that he doesn't go to industry conventions or have porn stars on for his own enjoyment, or to drive ratings, rather than some self-less act of feminism is nuts. People use services on the regular while looking down on those who perform them.

I really cannot wrap my head around a way to read his tweet that isn't an attempt to judge a woman on a standard men do not face.

He was basically making a joke about the leather top and the amount of skin showing being inappropriate for an NFL sideline reporter. That's it. He wasn't degrading the reporter. He wasn't making a comment about thinking lesser of a person. It was an inappropriate joke using topics he is familiar with. If you've listened to him over the years, it was nothing deeper than that. He's made many comments about men and the 70's porn star mustache and such.

1. Why was the joke inappropriate then? By what standard?

2. Why, in his view, can't she have her shoulders showing? Why make the joke? How is it not degrading for a woman to have her clothes criticized by a man who doesn't face the same standard?

And I've listened to him forever. He doesn't continue to get into these messes because he respects other people.

I'm not here to convince you that jokes like this are wrong, but your defense of McNeil doesn't make any sense. It cannot be both inappropriate, but also harmless.
