QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 06:55 PM)
yea Bernstein and Holmes both showed up in the last hour, both desperately trying to seem poignant and make the moment about themselves rather than Boers. The stuff with McNiel, Jiggets and North was awesome but you just knew the "evolved" Score personalities were gonna barge it and ruin it all, and sure enough they did.

Terry's radio partner for the past 17 years was only there for an hour?

McNeil and North are both free agents now, aren't they?

Bernstein has his moment on their last show. This was all about Terry. He's the last remaining original Score staffer on the air.

Wait, North isn't doing Webio anymore?? :P

I lol'd.

Really good stuff. I'm just not sure I'm ready for Mike North on a day to day basis and I can't imagine him working with Bernstein. I would expect Matt Abbatacola to be the guy.

I like listening to Bernstein and Abbatacola to be honest. Boers was lame and just kind of agreednwith everything Dan says. Abbatacola at least push back if he doesn't agree.

I definitely feel like Matt has earned it at this point. I also feel Bernstein is so difficult to mesh with, it might be worth just moving Matt over now. Unless they move Rozner to a permanent basis, which I would kind of dislike. I don't dislike Rozner, but the golf talk is awful.

Agreed. He's a fine filler but that's about it. And Matt has earned it for sure.

I like Abbattacola a lot. He has some annoying tendencies like every other host but for the most part he has fun which is refreshing plus he gives Bernstein s*** more than anyone else. That would be something that I would welcome to keep a better balance for the show. Terry agreed with way too much of what Bernstein said and there was never a counter argument to Bernstein. I hope Matt gets it.

Seems like a no-brainer, too as MA is a known quantity with Bernstein. Plus, he's probably cheaper and some outside talent.

Danny Parkins is like a rising star from Kansas City. He interned with MJH on ESPN1000. He also grew up a Cubs fan and went to New Trier. Now he gets to come home and talk about his favorite team and teams in general. Obviously I'm not a Cubs fan but that's pretty cool.

The thing that's interesting (and I know this isn't a deciding factor in these negotiations) is that you have a noon show with two Cubs fans and an afternoon show with White Sox fans. In either case, Dan and Spiegs are sort of semi-fans, but their allegiances are well known.

Love Jason Goff. He'll be a great match for Bernstein.

Definitely. He'll be way better than Boers. I don't understand the love for the guy as a radio host (not familiar with his earlier work as a reporter though).

Boers was great as recently as 6, 7 year ago. He just coasted for half a decade.

Abbatacola should have given himself a radio name before he started. He probably would have made it easier on his career.

Could have chopped off the "Abbata" in his name and went with Matt Cola. I can see it now: "Looking for something refreshing to listen to? Grab a Cola and Bernstein on 670 The Score!"

Obviously can't happen since Goff is replacing Terry but you get the idea.

Maybe Abbattacola figured it's better to be the executive producer for his two very good friends is a better gig for him. He participates in the show regardless, and he will still get weekend shifts if he wants them

Or move out of Chicago, try to get a gig in another city, and work your way back to Chicago, kind of like that Perkins guy did. Or never make it back to Chicago. Tough when there are so few opportunities.

Goff did the same thing and seems to have worked out well for him.

Spiegs grew up a Red Sox fan.
