Why make it private? This is a public story.

Poor Alford, let's not talk about it publicly...

Rich Bernstein, making money off of it. Class act. Finding people who have already been taken advantage of, to take advantage of more.

I like "take advantage of," like the victim. Alford's been taken advantage of? LMAO. How about Rich Alford?

He lied in his press conference. That's reason enough to have it brought up again.

Why wouldn't he take a smear campaign public? That line of criticism makes no sense.

Ps his name is dan not rich

He's got molestation and rape taken care of. Anyone else he can take advantage of? Maybe someone can find him some genocide victims to make some money off of?

Rich as in the money is he making off of these situations. That is mocking the "poor" being used in the responded to post.

Does the fact that Bob Woodward made a 40 year career off of Watergate mean that he shouldn't have reported Watergate?

Why wait until now? This happened 7 or 8 years ago. Why has Berstein waited until Alford got a huge job if he isn't looking for pub?

He doesn't forget. Nor should he in this instance. I'd say he's just "looking for pub" if he hadn't been consistently after Alford for the BS he got away with from the onset. And Bernstein was also ahead of the story with regards to Penn State.

How dare the man have some conviction in his profession - especially with regards to sexual assault!

His rant isn't as much about Steve Alford, because if it was, he wouldn't have ignored it the entire time Alford was at NM, it's about getting Dan Berstein's name in the paper, on the internet, and on TV.

I really don't like Bernstein, but I don't think that's the case. He just goes over the top when he's passionate about something. It's pretty clear he hates Alford and to his credit, he did have Alford on his show years ago and called him out on the air about the incident.

Exactly. Now that Alford takes a high profile job Bernstein is stirring it all up again. GMAFB

1. Bernstein is an asshole.

2. Alford is an asshole for attempting to cover up a sexual assault.

3. Bernstein advising new media guys that may or may not know of Alford's assholery past is not an asshole move.

/end debate.

Pretty much.

Right, now that Alford's been given a high-profile job and his past is being swept under the rug, Bernstein is dragging it back out. Does he stand to gain from that? Sure. So did every media organization that reported on the Penn State scandal, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't report on it.

Jesus, SS2K, you are clueless.

Alford's his friend or something, so yeah, let's do anything to make Bernstein look like the bad guy.

It's a story worth revisiting since he's at UCLA now, one of, if not, the best program in the country.

Do you think UCLA had the info when hiring him? Why should a radio station in Chicago care who UCLA hires as a basketball coach? There are scumbags being hired left and right in the NCAA, professional sports, etc. His own station hired Dan McNeil who has had several problems over the years. Did he go on a rant about him? I don't want to minimilze what Pierre Pierce did. Alford's problem was he believed his story. If it were someone you were close to and believed his story and realized what a false accusation could do to his life, isn't it at least possible what Alford did wouldn't seem so outlandish? False claims are made every day, especially college aged women. Unfortunately for Alford, this wasn't a false claim.

"Unfortunately for Alford"

Yeah, that wasn't the biggest problem. This wasn't someone giving benefit of the doubt (IIRC he pleaded guilty anyway).

Yes it was. If he thought he was guilty, he would have thrown him off the team, and none of this crap would have ever happened, and which he did when the second incident occurred which wasn't as serious, and Pierce told him he was innocent again.

Why should a radio station in Chicago care about it? LOL. Because it's a sports radio station? Are they limited to Chicago talk only?

Again, big story because he went to UCLA now. People are learning a lot more now than when he was at Iowa or New Mexico. I guarantee a ton of people had no clue about a lot of it when they announced the hire.
