Steve9347
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) Anybody else think it's stupid to have a 7 day DL for concussions only? If they're going to have the 7 day DL, teams should be able to use it for any injury. It can really put teams in a tight spot if they have a couple players nursing injuries that will be out for 5 or 6 games and opening up the 7 day DL would really help that. That's a good point - I see no reason why the 7-day DL can't just be used universally. I guess it would negate the 14-day DL because teams would just keep putting players on the 7-day DL to give themselves more flexibility. Steve9347
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 08:25 AM) Beckham will have a built in excuse now if he comes back and struggles... Well, we better bring him back next year, then. The reason he'll have a 70-something OPS+ and the worst OBP of any 2b in baseball THIS year will only be because of his wrist. Maybe that will loosen him up and he'll go to the plate like he has nothing to lose. I'd think it'd be difficult to hit with that type of injury. Balta1701
50/50 chance this effectively ends his career with the Sox. He'd have to come back raking now, no time at all to struggle.
witesoxfan
Keon Barnum had his right hamate bone removed earlier this year. Here was ptatc's analysis regarding that QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) Easy to recover from. Just need to let the bone heal so it doesn't injure the ulnar nerve as it goes through the tunnel of guyon of the the hook of the hamate (the part they remove) makes up one of the sides. About 1/3 of all MLB hitters have this done at one time or another.
flavum
Too bad. I would say this is a good opportunity for Conor Gillaspie.
Noonskadoodle
UGH....Beck was looking pretty good at the plate. His defense will def be missed.
elrockinMT
Amazing to me how this injury became Beckham bashing by some. We will miss that defense for sure and his offense was looking better too. Hopefully he is back healthy in less than the 6-8 weeks predicted
Jake
I'd say no Sanchez. This is Gillaspie's big shot.
Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) 50/50 chance this effectively ends his career with the Sox. He'd have to come back raking now, no time at all to struggle. Yeah, and if Gillaspie or whomever his replacement is plays well in his absence then there simply may be no starting role for him when he comes back. bmags
This is such a huge bummer. Really hoping Beckham could pull through, I'm guessing this is it.
bjm676
it might make sense to bring up an extra reliever. with no off days for awhile, you run the risk of burning out your bullpen. Plus, they have sanchez as backup IF.
Princess Dye
Many will peg this as a downgrade to our defense........but if we just look at 2B, what can we say about Kepp-for-Bacon? If I remember correctly, this offseason ..people were talking about Kepp being better at 2b than 3b(or saying 3b had a murky sample size) I find CG intriguing as all hell. Maybe just a guy who..while being a little old...seems to have just never gotten enough of an opportunity to make his promise happen. fathom
I hate this as this had to be the year for Beckham to show he can hit enough to earn an extension from the White Sox. Really awful timing for him and the organization.
