fathom
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) Wonder if the fact that Rios hasn't been given any extra offdays this year is catching up with him. I'm sure, thankfully there's a day off tomorrow. Good call balta

Good call balta The rainouts have helped a bit I'm sure with that, but worth noting, he's in the lineup every day.
fathom
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Where is Detroit getting a bullpen? Well, Valverde is throwing like 2-3 mph fastball than last year. I don't expect him to be great, but he should help align their bullpen so Coke doesn't have to close. flavum
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) Wonder if the fact that Rios hasn't been given any extra offdays this year is catching up with him. That's a good point. After going 0-4 with 3 K's last night, I was thinking he would get today off if Wise could play. With a tough lefty like Price and runs at a premium, I can understand why he played today.
fathom
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) The rainouts have helped a bit I'm sure with that, but worth noting, he's in the lineup every day. The injuries have just decimated any versatility that Ventura could have had with this lineup. As much as we make note of it, you can't expect to put out a lineup like the on yesterday and today against an above average pitcher and think you have a chance to win. Balta1701
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 05:02 PM) That's a good point. After going 0-4 with 3 K's last night, I was thinking he would get today off if Wise could play. With a tough lefty like Price and runs at a premium, I can understand why he played today. The real problem is the injury pile. If you had Viciedo out there (and maybe heated up, and maybe some hits from Beckham), you'd feel better about sitting Rios for a day. Instead, it'd be Tekotte or D2 out there against Price...eh.

fathom
Rios has owned Price in his career. If he was going to sit this series, it would have been last night against Moore, whom he's struggled to make contact against in his career.

flavum
Rondon is getting his feet wet now. He still may turn out to be the tigers closer--and who knows, he may be real good. Time will tell.

Because I think they're a better overall team this year than they were last year with Hunter a great addition to that lineup and having Sanchez for a full year.
