You feel good now but what happens when he has a bad outing or two?

Part of the maturation process for him as a starter. It's going to happen, as even the home run he allowed tonight was on a cutter, a pitch he didn't throw as a reliever.

Great to see Santiago performing well. Beginning of a long starting career for him hopefully.

The question is what happens to him in a few weeks if Danks comes back? Will they move him or Axelrod to bullpen?

I know what I'd do without question, but god only knows what Robin and/or Hahn will decide. They may be against having 4 lefties in the rotation.

By that time, who in the heck knows who will be injured

Babip in my mind is a dumb stat. Keppinger was put in positions to succeed as that is a Tampa focus. The white sox plug guys in and off they go. When was the last time they ever had a platoon situation?

Not a straight platoon, but in 2010, Ozzie played Viciedo almost strictly against LHP'ers.

Who are you referring to? Flowers?

Yeah. We're dying to have a team that lets young guys play, but are flabbergasted when it doesn't pan out (or doesn't start well, at least)

I wouldn't consider Flowers exactly a young guy (27 years old). Also, I think everyone knew he was going to struggle mightily to hit if he had to face a lot of righties this year.

Flowers is 27 not a real young guy.

Whether he is 24 or 27 is immaterial if this is his first real shot in the big leagues. If we got 4-5 years out of this catcher, it's all worth it

I put him in the same category as De Aza last year. Inexperienced with a year to prove themselves in an important role.

Jungle Jim Rivera and Jim McAnaney in right field in 1959.
