OVERVIEW

Daniel Webb was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2010 draft, as a 19 year old out of Northwest Florida State College. The White Sox acquired him (along with Myles Jaye) from Toronto in exchange for Jason Frasor prior to the 2012 season. Webb is a fireballer who was starting primarily in the TOR organization, with mediocre results. He is now a reliever, and in that role has increased his velocity from low-mid 90's to upper 90's and has touched 100, with the results to match in 2013.

FutureSox rated him just outside the Top 25 Top Prospects prior to the 2013 season.

PERSONAL/PRE-COLLEGE NOTES

Heath High School, Paducah, KY

COLLEGE

Pitched for one season for NWFSC as their #1 starter, posting a 4.93 ERA and striking out 47 in 62 innings.

SIGN/DRAFT

Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2010 Amateur Draft, signed for $450,000 (over-slot).

MINORS

During his first two years in pro ball, in the TOR system, Webb was primarily a starter. He tended to give up a lot of hits, struck out 6-7 guys per 9, and walked a few more than he should have (but nothing too bad). In 2012 in the Sox system, he started a few games, but was converted to relief for the majority of the season at Class A Kannapolis. In 2013 though, he has really broken through. The relief role has allowed him to increase his velocity to upper 90's and touching 100, and the results were so dominant in High A Winston-Salem (15 IP, 10 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 19 K) that he was quickly promoted to AA Birmingham. In one outing so far there, he pitched one inning and struck out the side. He looks like a potential fast-mover at this point.
