winninguglyin83
Let's just hope that we produced one solid player from the group of Sanchez, Semien, DeMichelle and Johnson. That would signal the end of Beckham -- not entirely a bad thing now that he is one season into arbitration and making serious money. the farm system is going to have to start delivering position players for the Sox to pull out their current flight path. QuickJones81
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 10, 2013 -> 08:41 AM) Also keep in mind that the 2B in W-S is Joey DeMichele, who is just now starting to hit a little. There is no way they demote him, but he's not ready to jump to AA either. So... Johnson probably isn't going anywhere for a while. Tyler Saladino is playing 2B in B-Ham, with Semien at short. If one of those two guys moves up to Charlotte at some point, AND if DeMichele is hitting in W-S, then you'll see them all move up a level, I'd think. With DeMichele, Johnson, Sanchez, and Semien in the pipeline do you trade Ramirez and Beckham for prospects. This team is in need of a rebuilding and restocking effort. If the value is there, do you pull the trigger?
ChiSox_Sonix
DeMichele, Johnson and Semien should have zero impact on current decisions made with Ramirez and Beckham
witesoxfan
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:10 AM) DeMichele, Johnson and Semien should have zero impact on current decisions made with Ramirez and Beckham Sanchez really shouldn't either at this point. Give it another couple months. If you fall out of the race or are still in last come Memorial Day, start shopping and scouting. If an other comes up and it's worth trading guys, do so and promote whoever or whatever.

Sanchez should factor in if the Sox believe in him. He's certainly close enough this early slump aside. He may not be good enough and the Sox may not think he's starting material, but that evaluation is absolutely a part of the process. Sanchez is a well-regarded prospect in AAA and trading one of the middle infielders affects the next few years.

Sanchez is a well-regarded prospect in AAA and trading one of the middle infielders affects the next few years. I honestly think the only way Sanchez comes into play is if he continues to hit very well and Beckham just improves a very small amount while the team comes back and competes this year. Most hypothetical situations I foresee dictate looking to move Beckham at some point in the next 8 months, regardless of Sanchez's development this year. About the one that doesn't is Beckham hitting very well and the Sox coming back and competing this year, because at that point you are facing a decision of whether to keep Beckham for $4-6 million or move on and look towards Sanchez.
