Here's the last thing I'll say about it, and then we'll agree to disagree. You're saying he sucks as if he has no chance to ever be a good baseball player and add value to a team. His hitting has slumped, and time will only tell if he will start hitting better and balance out as at least an okay offensive piece. Defensively, he's very good...and that's something the Sox haven't had for a while at 3rd base. He's young, and this is his first full season at the MLB level. He's not a player we need to worry about right now as these team has a slew of problems. He may end up sucking and be a bust, but I'm willing to give him the time, especially considering the alternatives.

Tyler Flowers is exactly the kind of player the White Sox are going to have to develop into a useful piece if they want to rebuild rapidly. He has obvious major holes in his game (strikeouts) but also has a major tool to offset it (power).

 

He's cheap, has limited major league experience, and there's genuine reasons to think he can become better if given playing time. It's also not unexpected that he's struggling at first.

 

That's exactly the kind of prospect the Sox can and should be trying to develop.

Stupid. You can't apply a blanket statement like that to such a terrible player. He's 27. He's bad. He's regressing. He can't play defense. Blanket statements like this are the worst - all players are different. In this case, Tyler Flowers is a definitively bad player.

Every year it's the same thing with the Soxtalk Meatheads, yes the SOXTALK MEATHEADS, I have defined you. You adopt some crap player on the roster and act like he's better than he really is or is finally figuring it out or just needs more time. Did Bobby Jenks suck in 2005 because he was released by the Angels?

 

Even if a player has been released, that's not a forever and ever indictment of said player.

 

Look at Jason Grilli, with the Pirates this season. Any team in baseball could have picked him up numerous times for nothing in the past decade.

Conor Gillaspie has posted a 687 OPS thus far in 2013. Granted its only 55 games but ...

 

We Sox fans complained about Joe Crede for his first 4 seasons.... and he never posted an OPS below 714 in those seasons (2004... which was his lowest OPS for a full time season).

The latest page or so of posts in this thread illustrates well why the "smartest" Soxtalk members post so rarely. I'll give Soxtalk this: when something happens that impacts our favorite team, it typically appears here first. So this site's members include some well-connected people. And for that, I visit (depending on the time of year) between several times per day to several times per week. That said, there are just too many jackasses who want to use this site's threads for their own cyber barfights. I wish they would go the way of their demigod, Mike North, and disappear.
